Congressional Democrats Become What They Claimed To Hate

The RS Insider can already see the signs around the Hill – the Democrats have already become the Party they campaigned against last year. A few examples:
- The US Attorney story wherein Republicans allegedly tried to “politicize” the Justice Department? It only came up because some Democratic judges in South Dakota were trying to force in their own pick for US Attorney. Oh, and they were also bribing a judge to forgo retirement until 2008, so they could maintain the partisan Democratic makeup of their judiciary.
- Senator Schumer is both heading the US Attorney investigation and chairing the Democrats Senatorial Campaign Committee, where Schumer is using his own investigation to raise money and help campaigns. This, despite his 1998 criticism of Al D’Amato for doing the same thing.
- During the Iraq Supplemental bri…er, vote? “AFL-CIO Chairman John Sweeney called individual lawmakers” to lobby for votes. What does a Labor Union Boss have to offer on military strategy? I mean, other than enormous bribes, of course.
- According to Roll Call, the Democrats have completed the K-Street-ization of their party: “House Energy and Commerce Chairman John Dingell (D-Mich.) on Tuesday told a group of lobbyists that leaders will be watching corporate political action committee contributions, expecting Democrats' share to rise.”
- Speaking of which, despite accusing Republicans of “fostering a "culture of corruption" in Washington and "selling access" to lawmakers”, Democrats are now “enlist[ing] their committee chairmen in an early blitz to bring millions of dollars into the party's coffers”….including fundraisers with Abramoff’s old tribal clients.
- The Clinton campaign is promising Convention access and favors in exchange for money…from Obama supporters! (not really an ethical problem, so much as a suggestion of their willingness to pander for cash)
And according to National Journal, a major earmark lobbyist “earmark work will remain an important piece of his firm's business” because of the “political needs of the new majority.” QUOTE: "Democrats are going to have to put in a lot of things for their own members and to get votes of GOP members." It’s only going to get worse.
On the bright side, both the House and the Senate are in recess this week, so the damage will be kept to a minimum.

Dianne Feinstein resigned from the military construction subcommittee after her husband's company getting $600 mil in contracts was exposed.
The Congressional Research Service suddenly stopped reporting on earmarks in bills. Wonder why?

We have to get around the MSM's insulating of these crooks, after all, now don't we?

"I would not be fooled by the old myth that reporting is about objectivity. Deciding what is news is the most subjective of acts and it is probably
the most important thing that we do." -- Carl Bernstein"In the past, in the days of ink-stained wretches and typesetting, it was the editors and publishers who set the news agenda. A small coterie of journalists decided what was most important, what went on page one, what was to be emphasized day after day." -- David S. Hirschman, Editor & Publisher

How can we have a discussion of Congressional corruption and leave out the poster child?
What in the world does it take to get an indictment out of these politically-motivated Republicans?

This is supposed to suprise us?
