Introducing The RedState "Corrupt Democrat Watch"
Keeping Tabs On The Party of Entitlement To Taxpayer Money

One thing a number of folks have been trying to do of late is identify the areas where blogs of the Right have been deficient in keeping up with the online efforts of the Left. Here at RS, we aim not only to set goals for matching and exceeding the other side's efforts, but to carry those goals into practice (and we're hopeful that the new site will give us more tools to do that).
One of those areas is keeping a steady drumbeat of attention on scandals, venality and vice among our political opponents and making sure that every scandal sticks to the guilty party. Now, admittedly, we have an uphill battle in that regard. One, the media famously tends to fail the "Name That Party" test when a Democrat rather than a Republican gets caught doing something fishy - i.e., if the wrongdoer's a Republican, you are much more likely to see press accounts mention that prominently. Two, a label like "culture of corruption" can stick to the GOP precisely because it's still newsworthy when Republicans get engulfed in scandal, whereas the party of big urban political machines, big government and a bottmless sense of entitlement to taxpayer money - well, that's just what they do. And third, of course, Democrats often end up trying to justify their perfidy with the idea that it was all in the service of good works (there's a lot of money in poverty, you know), and the media often eats that up.
We can sit around complaining, or we can do something about it. We aim to do the latter. So we are starting what will hopefully be a weekly-or-so feature, in which Haystack has generously agreed to take the lead, putting the hard light of reality on the long parade of the Seven Deadly Sins that emanates regularly from the Democrats. But Sheriff Haystack will be more effective with a posse; so we are always open to suggestions for more Democrats to cover as well as more volunteers to get their stories told. Hope you enjoy the ride. Let's go bring some Democrats to justice.

A recurring theme among Dem strategists is the Kennedy-esque nature of Barack Obama. This was emphasized over the weekend because of course Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June.
CNN did a panel, waxing about Obama and Bobby. There were several pieces in print doing the same. And of course Obama's speech writer is a protege of JFK's speech writer.
What media and Dem strategists miss is much of the inherent corruption of JFK's presidency--the secretiveness, outright lying and his taking action to begin a truly unnecessary war that ended up costing about 60,000 US troops their lives.
I'd think the GOP would want to call this to someone's attention. I blogged about it, but so far, I haven't seen anything to that effect. JFK's shortcomings and his alliance with mainstream media of the day (virtually every single major publication covered for him knowingly) have been thoroughly documented even by those who admired him (including a definitive work by Pulitzer winner Seymour Hersh).
Seems to me if everyone's bringing up the Kennedy administration and injecting it as a theme for Obama, the least that can be done is to be evenhanded about it and point out the administration did not really rise to the level of angels as we previously thought. Of course, it took three decades for the public to learn the truth.

Corrupt Democrats, you'll never run out of material.
