Right now, this is meaningless.

If there is a Democratic House in 2007, it won't be.

Representative James McGovern - a Democrat, of course - has an article calling for the immediate withdrawal of forces in Iraq (H/T: RCP). Right now, it's just, ah, self-abuse; we're not going to do that. But please note the only real semantic content of the article:

Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., has proposed legislation to end funding for the Iraq war.

Currently, Rep. McGovern is the second-ranked Democrat on the House Rules Committee. Yes. That committee. Presumably, he'd keep his slot if the Democrats take the House... only now he'll be the second-rank of the majority party, and thus in a much better position to play to his enthusiasms.

If you are a Indiana Republican* annoyed at the way Congress is operating, I want you to read this bill of his ([UPDATE]: it's HR 4232) - and imagine all the others that this Representative will foster and support, should he get the power to do so. And then I want you to think about the difference between annoyance and disaster.

I want you to think real hard.

Moe

*[UPDATE] Or Republican from another State, obviously, although that's the one most of concern from what I can see.
