For those who don’t know in addition to posting here I am the proprietor of a group blog on Maryland Politics. And we have a scandal brewing in the administration of Governor Martin O’Malley.

How bad is it? There is a federal investigation brewing and even the Democrat state prosecutor is looking into the swindle.

A key part of unraveling this is a collateral civil action filed by fired assistant secretary for real estate Nelson Reichart. Mr Reichart spoke to the media, with agency permission, on the subject of the rather bizarre appraisal process used in the New Kent land swindle (it boils down to the state doubling the highest appraisal, adding 10%, then paying off an O’Malley croney). He was fired immediately after the interview, a few months shy of pension eligibility, and is now suing the governor and state on the grounds that he was fired because he is a white Republican.

Why is this on the front page?

Mr. Reichart needs your help to mount the lawsuit which has the potential of revealing a lot more double dealing by the governor and his friends at the expense of taxpayers. Read all the details at O’Malley Watch and if you have a few extra dollars be sure to send them Mr. Reichart’s way.

Two guys who's ambition is greater than Mt Fuji. I live in Northern VA so I get Maryland politics, and O'Malley was a terirble mayor but won becasue he was a "D." The problem, as in NY, is the entire political structure is made up of Democrats and I think unless soemthing huge breaks, everyone will watch out for O'Malley.

The only man who can really bullhorn this is Bob Ehrlich, who I think is itching for a rematch.
