Why Nancy won't condemn the latest MoveOn.org attack

(Hint: it's about money.)

The United States Senate, bless their hearts, have condemned, 72-25, the general-bashing attack ad from MoveOn.org.

Some Democrats voted for the condemnation and the measure passed 72-25, but some significant Democrats apparently fear MoveOn enough not to cross it.

Hillary, for instance, voted against the measure. Such as Barack Obama and Joe Biden did not show up to vote.

The House of Representatives will not even bring a similar resolution to a floor vote.

Of what is Nancy, the Speaker, afraid?

Why, Rosa DeLauro (D-Connecticut) is actually embracing the destructive fringe mob. From The Hill this morning:

Many Democrats are steering clear of MoveOn.org since the organization mocked Gen. David Petraeus in a newspaper advertisement earlier this month. But not Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.).

DeLauro will host a dinner next week in which MoveOn executive director Eli Pariser will be one of three receiving an award. Pariser is to be honored at the U.S. Action 2007 Progressive Leadership Awards.

(HT, The Real Democrat Story.)

Never in my recollection has a political party been so owned by one fringe group. If only the voters knew who really controls their Congressional majority.

or just stuff the food in their mouths, wiping the gravy with their sleeves. Maybe they don't trust each other with sharp instruments or perhaps there will be cries of discrimination as to portion size. I do hope Rosa shaves for the occasion and doesn't wear her usual bearskin.

Money talks, and it talks more loudly with the easily bribed, jaded and unprincipled. Has the NY Times excoriated this buy out yet?

"a man's admiration for absolute government is proportinate to the contempt he feels for those around him". Tocqueville

I really don't get this whole MoveOn ad thing. So they put out an ad questioning the motives of the most important general in the war in Iraq. Um, so? There was that famous Mark Twain quote about how we ought to love our country always and our government when it deserves it (I don't remember the exact quote), and as the top general in Iraq, General Petraeus IS government, to some extent, and he's a human being who was appointed by George W. Bush. He's not a patriot elemental or a champion of justice or anything like that. He's a dude who was chosen by a politician. There's nothing wrong with suggesting that his loyalties may lie partly with his politics along with our country, even in times of war, because during war is when it is most important for our government to do things correctly.

Maybe you think I'm not a patriot. I respect your right to question my motives. I respect your right to question anyone's motives, even if I think you're wrong. The difference here is that my motives don't matter, and General Petraeus's do. It is important to know for sure where our military leader stands rather than just assume he stands where we want him to stand. Freedom of speech, freedom of thought, these are the American and conservative values we've fought for since Thomas Jefferson.

You're not fooling anyone.

It's not as if liberals don't come around shouting Nothing to see here! Move along!" when a story (i.e. Pelosi wanting Air Force II) that could redound negatively on the Left is in the public eye.

Right?

It is important to know for sure where our military leader stands rather than just assume he stands where we want him to stand. Freedom of speech, freedom of thought, these are the American and conservative values we've fought for since Thomas Jefferson.

If there's one thing I can't stand is this sort of idiocy, assuming that you're so smart you can pull the wool over people's eyes with crap like this ... especially since we have spent the last five years with shrieks that one's patriotism should never ever under any circumstances be questioned by people on your side of the aisle.

MoveOn (as every single Left-Wing group from the PFAW to the NAACP only does) attempted to launch a character assassination campaign on an honorable man in order to discredit a report he was statutorily obligated to give to Congress. With the active assistance of the nation's premier Lefty newsletter.

MoveOn was not asking a question, as you so dishonestly tried to put it. MoveOn was stating as a matter of fact that Petraeus was willing to sacrifice the lives of the men and women under his command for his own personal gain. Honor is one of those quaint old-fashioned virtues that the Left may disdain, but this is one of the many times when you once again proved out of step with the American people.

It's not a surprise you don't see what the big deal is ... it's only to be expected.

Some Republicans have been criticized for being so-called RINOs, and some of them have voted on some issues in a disappointing manner. Still, I'd take a RINO over a moveon-democrat any day.
