Just Confirming What We Thought We Knew

Bob Corker Is A Good Man

UPDATE by Leon: Original Source information below the fold.

Bob Corker's office just hung up with me. They inform me that Senator Elect Corker wants us to know that he is not, has never been, and does not intend to be a member of the Republican Mainstreet Partnership and he has accordingly asked both Roll Call and the RMP to make it clear that he has not joined.

Thank God for that and God Speed Bob Corker!

Editor's Note: Given a dreary family situation today and for the foreseeable future, this is at least one note to bring a smile to my face today. Thanks Bob.

::BEGIN UPDATE::
Because some people are going into hysterics about the original story, it was legitimately sourced:

Roll Call

December 6, 2006 Wednesday

SECTION: ELECTIONS JOLTED GOP MAIN STREET GROUP

LENGTH: 347 words

BYLINE: Nicole Duran, ROLL CALL STAFF

BODY:

While it continues to do battle with the conservative Club for Growth, the Republican Main Street Partnership's membership took a severe bruising in the midterm elections.

Combined with retirements, the centrist group will find itself short a significant number of members in the 110th Congress.

-- SNIP --

Since the elections, two newly elected Members have declared their intention to join Main Street.

Sen.-elect Bob Corker (Tenn.) and Rep.-elect Dean Heller (Nev.) will come on board once they are sworn in, Resnick said.

Corker will be one of the Senate's few Main Street members, replacing Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R.I.), who lost his seat in November after a brutal September primary fight.

Do you d**k us around like that deliberately, or is it just something you can't stop yourself from doing?

In the future, I'd appreciate it if you're going to be the "lead blogger" here on RedState that you checked out your information before you got everyone in the freaking world to jump off a cliff.

Trust me on this.

The Fuzzy Puppy of the VRWC.

Unlike some, I apperciate that you went a step further to get the story right.

If "pro" is the opposite of "con", what is the opposite of "progress"?

Just lost all its credibility with me. This is a bridge too far. I donated money to Bob Corker and I thought you were telling the truth based on something you actually knew based on something solid instead of what came up in your vivid imagination at some time or the other, especially considering the length to which you went to describe your "disappointment."

You made me look like a fool to at least ten people. That's it for me and this website. I hope you have a good time trying to elect a President in this cycle, Erick, with reporting like this.

Take my word that this is a fight for another day. Please.

This post is updated with the original source information. Note that it is not "Erick's head."

Now read his editor's note, and the comments from Traianus, Thomas, and Moe, and PLEASE lay off of Erick for the time being.

I sense something that may require some prayer and therefore will provide some.

If I am wrong, it's always good to have a few extra anyway.

"Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori"

knows this was well sourced. Folks, you need to read a bit more carefully. If anyone needs to be flogged on this it is Resnick. Give him a call and blow off the steam appropriately.

"Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori"

From RC, or better yet - the mainstreet dirtbags.

You know, every time I write about the RMSP, I try to hold back, because I don't want to look like a frothing Daily Kos person does when he writes about the DLC.

But...

I have heard of the DLC making critiques and warning of the Democratic Party moving too far to the left, but I have never heard them make the kind of callous attacks on individuals that the RMSP has made on people like Rick Santorum, Tim Walberg and others. It's flatly unacceptable.
