Maverick-wannabe Chuck Hagel has denounced the President’s plan to send more troops to Iraq in terms that Dick Durbin has avoided since the last time he compared US troops to Nazis.

This is a dangerously wrong-headed strategy that will drive America deeper into an unwinnable swamp at a great cost.

[…]

The President’s strategy will cost more American lives; sink us deeper into the bog of Iraq making it more difficult to get out; cost billions of dollars more; further strain an American military that has already reached its breaking point; further diminish America’s standing in the Middle East; and continue to allow the Iraqis to walk away from their responsibilities.

The good news for Hagel is that felonious mopery isn’t an offense that carries a huge honking fine or a stiff prison sentence. If this were a just world it would. The good news for us, and for people of Nebraska is that Hagel will most likely neither seek the presidency nor reelection.

The Republicans in NE need to find someone to go after him in the primary if he does decide he probably can't find a decent job in the private sector. Although, now that the minimum wage is being raised, he may be able to make ends meet as a WalMart greeter. Lord knows he's only barely qualified for that.

That truly is good news if it comes to pass.

After the 2006 elections, al Qaeda released a statement saying they were happy Democrats won. That should tell you all you need to know.

WHY is HAGEL still a Republican?!!! lets get him the hell out pleeeeeeeeeeeze. send him to Kos, someone will adopt his dumb ass.

Chuck Hagel voted with the President more than any other any other Senator last year, according to Congressional Quarterly. He is clearly a conservative Republican, he just strongly disagrees with the President on Iraq.

"The ratings of presidential support and “party unity” votes were compiled by Congressional Quarterly. Hagel supported Bush’s position 95.5 percent of the time, even more often than Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., who finished fourth at 92.8 percent."

From the Lincoln Journal Star (http://journalstar.com/articles/2007/01/04/news/politics/doc459c3954c7fe...).

about Iraq because he just comes across as a backstabbing weasel.

Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.

When this raving lunatic (with apologies to lunatics) not only doesn't support the President on the single most important issue in the last 20 years, ratings are both meaningless and completely misleading.

Hagel should be dropped down a deep well shaft, he is no better than Dick Durbin.

[...alas, we still don't need people here who believe that the military has betrayed us, so toddle on along. - Moe Lane]

...deal with what the man said instead of simply attacking him. That's all you people do, and it's not constructive. Anyone with a different point of view--and Hagel's is shared by a vast and growing majority of people in this country, by the way--belongs on Kos and is no longer a Republican.

Brownback to keep him company.
