Nancy, reading the Iraq Supplemental for the first time even though it has already been passed by her House and the Senate, will apparently be finished reading the supplemental this afternoon.
The President, in response, will deliver a statement at about 6:10 p.m. tonight to make it clear that the present supplemental passed by Congress is unacceptable.
Speaking this afternoon, Tony Snow made clear the President will fight this and use all appropriate, legal budgetary tools at his disposal to both make sure the troops have the funding they need and pressure Congress to deliver to him a supplemental without partisan gimmicks.
Recently, several of you approached us asking that we get on the ball and do something about Nancy and Co. trying to push through the supplemental on the anniversary of the President's "Mission Accomplished" speech. We tried. Numerous folks on the Hill told us, basically, that this was the White House's fight. The Hill is tired of fighting for a White House that won't fight for itself.
I asked Tony Snow about that. He took issue with the characterization, but he made it very clear that the President intends to fight this issue for the cause and for the troops. With Tony Snow back at behind the podium in the press room, let's fight on.

Setting a timetable for pulling out of Iraq is stupid. The president should dump this turd back into the laps of the surrenderists. If he makes his case forcefully, he will win this issue with the American people.
issue. I keep hearing that the American people are behind the Dems on this ~ that cannot be reality. I cannot believe that the American people are pulling for surrender and defeat - we all need to stand up and begin yelling - get Pelosi and Co out!
We cannot wait until 2008 to make our voices be heard - we need to do it now.

"...and the fight starts when?" but on reflection, I'll wait to hear what POTUS has to say.
