MSM Goes After Last Competent Person In The Administration

It is increasingly apparent that the last remaining competent person in the Bush Administration is one Richard B. Cheney, Vice President of the United States. While the President seems willing to ignore border enforcement, cave on withdrawal timetables (at least that's the rumor), and ignore attacks while getting bloodied, Cheney does not compromise his conservative principles and he does not yield in the face of attacks.

As a result, the Washington Post has begun a multipart series of attacks on Vice President Cheney. Today's drivel from Jo Becker and Barton Gellman goes to great pains to paint Cheney as a Sith Lord. Witness this bit:

Read on (it gets really funny, unless you care for reporters, then it's just pathetic) . . .

In Oregon, a battleground state that the Bush-Cheney ticket had lost by less than half of 1 percent, drought-stricken farmers and ranchers were about to be cut off from the irrigation water that kept their cropland and pastures green. Federal biologists said the Endangered Species Act left the government no choice: The survival of two imperiled species of fish was at stake. . . .

The Klamath case is one of many in which the vice president took on a decisive role to undercut long-standing environmental regulations for the benefit of business.

Shorter Washington Post: Cheney is evil and needs to be taken out because he sided with farmers and ranchers . . . er . . . "business" . . . whose livelihoods were threatened by environmentalists instead of siding with fish.

Directly following that is this gem

By combining unwavering ideological positions -- such as the priority of economic interests over protected fish -- with a deep practical knowledge of the federal bureaucracy, Cheney has made an indelible mark on the administration's approach to everything from air and water quality to the preservation of national parks and forests.

Only a lefty would see protecting the livelihoods of American farmers and ranchers over fish as an "unwavering ideological position." Only the mainstream media would paint a defense of the American entrepreneurial spirit as corrupt, mean spirited, and dangerous.

I assume the Vice President is as amused by the Washington Post's efforts as I am. Tomorrow I suspect they'll try to connect the Veep to Dr. Evil himself.

the series is just ridiculous. Vice President Cheney manages to maneuver around the massive federal bureaucracy and get things accomplished, "good government" if I've ever heard of it, and the MSM disapproves. Next we find out that Gore did the same thing and was praised (see, "no controlling legal authority").

Fishing industry is worth billions in the United States. This same type of thing came between logging and fishing industry in the 90s.

They can go f*#@ themselves.

You make it sound like this is something new. When its been happening since day one.

Lets not forget the unnamed location jokes. The bushes brain jokes. The pacemaker jokes. Edwards and Kerry going after the mans daughter aided and abetted by the MSM.

Then there are the ever popular mantras "Halliburton", "Energy policy notes" etc.

The VP must be one of the most even tempered people alive to lash out so little.

Vice President ever, he was always out there taking the heat for this administration and looked like he enjoyed it and for that I thank him. It really drive the MSM crazy that the base loves him and that alone is fun to watch.

Isn't that like winning a tallest midget contest?

In order to thank the MSM's kindness over the years Cheney will invite them to do a little hunting on the ranch. He'll be gracious enough to give them a 2minute head start!

Based on the conversations I had on my recent trip to Europe, I'd hazard a guess that this puts you on the same page as the majority of the rest of the world. The only difference is they think he's evilly competent.

Only a lefty would see protecting the livelihoods of American farmers and ranchers over fish as an "unwavering ideological position."

Sure. People from the right see it as a "consistent statement of doctrine".

think their opinions are anything but off-the-wall-loony needs to have his tinfoil hat adjusted.

Then again next election if a republican wins I am sure there will be complaints that their vote was suppressed

Not much fear of that happening, the Republicans winning that is, unless there is actual suppression like the suppressions that sent several operatives of the conservative side to prison in Ohio

Care to elaborate? Are they being held in a secret prison operated by Johnny Kerry? Are they being waterboarded to give up testimony damaging to the President? Or does this belong in the dustbin of myths occupied by hanging chads and blood for oil? Thought so.

I am glad name calling is banned, because "idiot" is on the tip of my tongue.

I know you are so what am I ?- Read the history since 2004- stop listening to Savage, Limbaugh, Coulter and branch out- I listen to all and make up my mind- Neocons have had their decade, now it's someone else's chance to screw things up

Except swap out Ohio for New Hampshire...

Let's not forget that the 2 people spent time in a federal prison and that the NHGOP is required to pay the NH Democrats $25,000 per year for the next 5 years because of this scandal.

Telemarketers = Suppressing the vote ? Thats something I would expect from someone off their meds.

But if you want talk about something interesting try googling Acorn vote fraud.

Or if you are too lazy or lack the integrity.

Oh but we were talking about vote suppression no ?

Just ask the serving military in florida. You know the people who Al Gore didn't want counted.

I'd go further on the left and the integrity of our system but I would get banned for posting violations and you would never understand why its important.

A jammed telephone bank that was calling voters and offering them walking around money - errr, I mean "rides to the polls". Plus a little help making up their minds about who to vote for. Plus some cigarettes.

Yeah, that really ranks with the decades of election thefts of the Democrats. Compared to them, the NH guys were rank amateurs. The hysterical libs have infiltrated wikipedia now - is nothing safe?

Whatever happened to my picture of Lyndon Johnson's boys with the ballot box, anyway...?

" in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
Abe Lincoln

Competencies:
He is very competent at subverting the intelligence community to create results showing support for the existence of WMDs.

He is very competent in convincing Americans that there was a clear and present link between Sadam Hussein and 9/11.

If you read the articles, you may come to realize that he is very competent in limiting alternative viewpoints that could reach the President (although, to be fair, we don’t know if he would be competent at this task if the President was someone who actively sought out alternative viewpoints)

He is very competent in hiding his work from the people of the United States of America. He shows great creativity in this task; he now claims he is not part of the Executive Branch of Government, but rather part of the Senate, and therefore is exempt from information “daylight” laws.

Competence Deficiencies:
He is not very competent as a hunter when he is drunk.

He was actually not very competent at Halliburton (their stock went down considerably while he was CEO)

...sorry, but I just can't work up the energy to give you the banning that you think that you deserve. Your work was too pedestrian, too imitative, too cliched. You have no soul for this kind of art.

I suggest that you become a plumber. Society needs plumbers.
