The Guardian reports:

A British soldier recently deployed in Afghanistan has been arrested and charged with passing secret information to a foreign country, believed to be Iran. Daniel James was remanded in custody yesterday charged under the 1911 Official Secrets Act. The 44-year-old corporal was an interpreter for General David Richards, the British commander of the Nato-led international security assistance force, Isaf, in Kabul.

Corporal James is standing behind General Richards in this photo.

The Telegraph elaborates (with video report here):

James is of Iranian descent and speaks fluent Pashtun, the main language in Afghanistan, making him invaluable to the Army which is very short of translators.

Neighbours at his £800,000 house in Brighton [Emphasis mine], said his mother speaks only Farsi, the main language of Iran.

I don't think that breaks the posting rules but it’s a fitting word for this creep!!!

You just don't get much lower than a turncoat!

Madhouse Thought and The Minority Report

Mix together the following:

1) One part ideology based on jihad and global conquest
2) Ten parts virtually unlimited cash on hand from the sale of black gold
3) Two parts a need for "the enemy" (that would be us, by the way) to have people on hand who "speak-a de language"
4) Five parts a large supply of young men with very little to do and a seething hatred for the west since birth

And what do you get?

44-year old corporal Daniel James.

Don't you think though that the $1.6M house for a corporal should have been a warning flag to someone?

to see if he can enlist in the Royal Marines. Heck, with his USMC experience he should be able to make Sgt in about a week. He could then take care of his aging parents in the manner to which they would like to become accustomed.

If "pro" is the opposite of "con", what is the opposite of "progress"?

a mid-level civil servant, Aldrich Ames, living in a huge house and driving a Jag would have been a clue, too. So I didn't want to throw too many stones in that regard.

I'll keep said stones on the QT for the time being.

Even those who learn from history are surrounded by those doomed to repeat it.

Watch ...

He'll return to England and be a hero in Londonistan.

Red Stater with Blue State Blues

1. Try him.
2. Execute him.

Hang him in public, because we need public examples of what happens to traitors. Or turn him over to the Israelis for interrogation, a slower way to die

It would seem a prerequisite for "Execute him".

...whether it's trial by a jury of his peers and if cameras should be allowed in the courtroom and what role Sharia law should play in his trial, but its Christmas, so we'll let kchand slide this time.
