Car bomb plot in London foiled

Does anyone remember that we're at war?

A silver Mercedes loaded with gas, propane and shrapnel was discovered outside a popular west-end London nightclub today. Had it been successfully detonated, the bomb would have caused significant damage to London's infrastructure and targeted civilians--locals and tourists alike--enjoying a summer Friday.

Preliminary evidence indicates that the technology used for this bomb is related to bomb-making practices in Iraq, suggesting that President Bush and his administration are not completely off the mark when they warn that terrorists do not plan to simply destabilize Iraq and call it a day. They want to use Iraq as a springboard to follow us here. In addition, it seems awfully convenient for this attack to be planned for new Prime Minister Gordon Brown's first days--almost his first hours--in office.

Perhaps we have all gotten a little too accustomed to having proven and resolute leaders in office who have been willing to sacrifice political capital and make difficult and unpopular decisions to fight this war. That's not to say that President Bush and Prime Minister Blair are the only ones who can fight it--far from it--but Mr. Brown's response is worth watching. So far it is not encouraging ("I will stress to the Cabinet that the vigilance must be maintained over the next few days."), but it's early. He should be mindful that not only are the British public and those contemplating going to England this summer on holiday watching him. So are those who planned this bomb, and they may be looking more than a "few days" down the road.

forever be on guard....good to hear from you AE...things good?

" in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
Abe Lincoln

put half the energy he put into the amnesty bill into explaining the WOT. I really believe that we can win this and that Iraq is a front however he has not been able to express that to the American public and for that complacency has set in. He really should have used his political capital on this issue, instead he chose amnesty for illegals to blow it on and I think the D's will end up winning on Iraq because of it.

It's a good thing we're fighting over in Iraq, because it's keeping all the terrorists in the middle east...

Try again. If you're aiming to get banned, you'll have to do much better.

Socialism doesn't work. It looks nice on paper, but it's been tried and it's failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).

I can only hope that some day somebody will find a medicine that will let you see other people as being real.

Now shoo.

seeing that the Iraq war began in 2003.

Oh, I forgot - 9/11 was understandable blowback. Stupid me.
