Charges Dismissed Against 2 Marines In Haditha Case

All charges have been dismissed against two of the Marines, Lance Cpl. Justin L. Sharratt and Capt. Randy Stone, accused of killing killings of Iraqi civilians in Haditha.
In dismissing the charges, Lt. Gen. James Mattis, said he was sympathetic to the challenges Marines on the ground face in Iraq:
"Where the enemy disregards any attempt to comply with ethical norms of warfare, we exercise discipline and restraint to protect the innocent caught on the battlefield," Mattis wrote in his letter to Sharratt. "Our way is right, but it is also difficult."[. . .]
Mattis concluded that Sharratt acted appropriately and within his rules of engagement.
"With the dismissal of these charges, you may fairly conclude that you did your best to live up to the standards ... in the face of life or death decisions made by you in a matter of seconds in combat," Mattis wrote in his statement, dated Aug. 8 and made public Thursday.

The decision to drop the charges against Sharratt followed an earlier recommendation from Lt. Col. Paul Ware:
"The government version is unsupported by independent evidence," Ware wrote. "To believe the government version of facts is to disregard clear and convincing evidence to the contrary."
Three cheers for Lt. Gen. James Mattis.

to attack them. It's the Americans who attack them repeatedly, that are destroying America. It's not like this is something new, there is a major segment of one of our largest political parties and a few from the other major party, that has called members of our military criminals and worse, since at least 22 Apr 1971. Not one single penalty is attached to destroying the lives of American military members who have defended America. Senators and Representatives who slander and ruin military members lives will live out their days as heroes to America's left.
... nor follow up from the MSMedia. Their excuse... It's yesterday's story. Most aren't following it, and most don't care. So no need to set the record straight. No need for the media to ask Murtha anything. And even if they do ask him. With the total lack of integrity in that so-called public servant, he will change the topic or the goal posts... but an apology, never.
Kudos to the military courts for getting this right! And best wishes to these two Marines. May God bless them and their families.
you are a 35 minute wonder, a smarmy bast**d, and a brain dead fool incapable of rational thought or understanding anything that hasn't been explained by an acolyte of Karl Marx.
Feel free to stuff your comment where the sun does not shine, but remember to remove both your head and your tinfoil hat first.

wanting to talk like that when someone is attacking the country, but what good does it do? Do you really think people are going to not make offensive comments if they are afraid that you are going to call them brain dead?
These people are asking for attention and than you come along and give them all of the attention they want. The mature way to handle jerks is to ignore them. Spewing out curses that require just a little extra imagination is not the mature way to handle jerks. And I would certainly question whether it is the christian way to handle them. You are free to do as you please. I am just politely asking you that you don't respond to piece of garbage by making a mountain of curses and trash talk in it's place.
Thanks for your opinion.

It's just that, that piece of writing made me feel like I was having a flash back to hours wasted on Daily Kos.
Wrong. The idiots need to be smacked down quickly then blammed. That is the best way to ignore ignorance. Case in point is look where Bush is right now by "taking the high road" and ignoring the blatant attacks and lying in the media and the Dems. Sure Bush screwed up some things but he has not defended himself from the obvious left wing conspiracy.
We need to take on the nutroots and expose them for what they are. They are not allowed to get a toe hold or they will grow like mold. You can eat an elephant one bite at a time.
The damage caused to this country by the blatant crap that divided this country is tremendous.
This does not mean silencing the opponents. It means smacking down the idiots who do not have hardly a shred of substance to their arguments.
Ask not what you can do for your country, ask what your country can do for you. Washington Elected Elite
if he had thrown out a string of profannity and trash talk everytime he got attacked by a liberal. Mbecker didn't bother to use any logic just a string of insults - I didn't say that these insults were underserved, but really it doesn't do any good. And I don't think Bush would be better off if he had acted like mbecker.
I've (or anyone else for that matter) advocated that Bush throw out a string of profanity and trash talk. HINT: you won't. What I've looked for is for Bush to just speak the truth. In other words: Joe Wilson is a liar. The Members of Congress who are promoting the line that Wilson has fronted are liars. Jack Murtha is a bitter old man, has a long history of dancing down the lines of ethics and should just keep his mouth shut on military matters, etc.
With respect to your comments about my comments about the brain dead troll, thanks for your input. And the next time a brain dead troll posts something as stupid and reprehensible as this idiot did, I will think of you while I'm whacking him with all the invective I can muster. I'm not trying to pass myself off as the President. For one thing, I'm willing to call a brain dead fool a brain dead fool.

the President doing that. But the poster who I was responding to seemed to think that the President should act more like you, which I imagine you are smart enough to know that is not a good idea.
Now if someone is a fool than they aren't going to have the brains to care if you call them such. Therefore it seems that you are wasting your time. Also you are giving the fools what they want, and that's attention. But if that's your idea of fun, and you feel you have certain amount of internet space that you need to use then go for it.
When I first read your comment I though nothing of it. I presumed that you were making some allusion to an attempt by the government to railroad one of its own servicemen through false accusations and questionable evidence. In light of others comments I have come to suspect that my presumption is erroneous. In consequence, I would also like to read an explanation of your "can you say My Lai" comment.

Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock.
And this reads almost exactly like it.
The Victims (the Vietnamese) of My Lai don't blame the US. They blame the VC. Why do we still listen to those within our own nation who wish to believe that we are vicious murderers when those who would have real reason to hate us (the victims) say it wasn't us?
Why does it seem like we will be doing the same with Haditha in 30 years?

As in, you get to write one comparing and contrasting this case and that one. Zip up your pants, write it out, send it in via the Contact link, and we'll think about turning your account back on.

Moe I have a question. How frequently do people actually write and then send in the essays that you assign?

Which is funny, because we really would consider turning somebody's account back on if he or she did the assignment. It'd have to be done straight up, mind you: no games and no rip-offs.

Thanks. That is kind of what I figured, but you never really know until you ask.

Should have held out too. Now they are going to be dishonourably discharged and lose their reputations because they the plea bargains.
Only these 2 will emerge with intact careers and honour.

Thank goodness that the charges were dismissed against the two marines. I never believed that they did anything wrong.
There is always going to be people that will charge our marines have done very bad things.
We have to remember this is war and the enemy will do anything to defeat us and discredit our guys.
