Dear International Media,

How Many Times Can They Do the Same Thing in the Same Week?

It would be really great, in light of the fact that there's a war going on in which one side has lots of people who use images like this one to recruit young men to become suicide bombers, if you would engage in some basic fact checking before you create a new batch of Islamofascists:

EDS NOTE GRAPHIC CONTENT ** A Relative carries the body of Rajaa Abu Shaban, 5, into Shifa hospital in Gaza City, Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006. On Thursday, doctors said that the 5-year-old Palestinian girl initially believed to have been killed by an Israeli military strike Wednesday apparently died after sustaining head injuries during a fall from a swing in the same area shortly before the strike.(AP Photo/Adel Hana)

I think you already know where this story is going, but let's look below the fold anyway...

This, of course, was not what the original captions for the pictures said. The original AP caption:

A Relative carries the body of Rajaa Abu Shaban, into Shifa hospital in Gaza City, Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006. An Israel air strike against Islamic militants in Gaza City on Wednesday killed three people, including 5-year-old Rajaa Abu Shaban, and wounded two more, Palestinian officials and witnesses said. The Israeli army said its forces attacked a ‘terrorist training camp’ in Gaza, but gave no further details. (AP photo/Adel Hana)

And Al-Reuters captioned another photo of the girl in the morgue thusly:

The body of three-year-old Palestinian girl Raja Abu Shaban lies in the morgue after she was killed by an Israeli air strike in Gaza August 9, 2006. An Israeli helicopter gunship fired at least one missile into a Palestinian militant training camp in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, killing two gunmen and a three-year-old girl, witnesses said. Sooner or later... much, much later, it would appear, the folks responsible for covering this war are going to realize that there are lots of scummy people who are perfectly fine with outright fabricating material in order to stir up the "faithful." I'm not paying hyper-close attention, and this is the third story from just this week involving major international news organizations being flat-out suckered by Islamofacist propagandists masquerading as journalists. How many more times will they get burned - and how many more homicide bombers will be created - before this farce ends?

Really. Because I do need to ask apparently.

2006 - It's just not safe to vote Democrat

But it's easy to sucker someone when you're offering something that looks and sounds like exactly what they want to see and hear.

In my opinion, no they were not. The major media outlets have been on a disinformation campaign for years now. I don't even pay attention to them any longer. Sifting through the net keeps me better informed than the MSM ever could (or more properly, would). Thank God for the internet. There may be alot of junk floating around out there, but at least by reading broadly you can get somewhere closer to the truth on events today than you could even just a few short years ago.

Decades of MSM coverage simply proves the old adage of Lincoln:

"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."

The so-called journalists have a play book, to maximize their profits and/or propel their message/bias, and they never let the facts get in the way if they can help it.

Sadly, I have to agree with most of what you have said.

Someone here recently recalled the old adage about sunshine being the best disinfectant. The quote originally applied to government corruption, but the commenter pointed out that it equally applied to the MSM. The problem here is that the infection seems to be systemic, and will require massive doses of sunshine to cure it.

Keep up the good work, Leon. We need to expose as much of this type of propaganda as we can.

that everybody sees the original while few see the correction. This is borderline criminal, and I hope they pay for all of this someday. How many innocent people have to die, before the media learns its lesson?

The MSM propagandists are counting on this.

...or does it not look like the "black shirt" with the glasses behind the grieving, uh, parent I guess, is actually grinning in the photograph?

Just asking.

"I don't know." -- Helen Thomas, when asked by White House spokesman Scott McClellan, "Are we at war, Helen?"

some of these guys look like they're struggling to keep a straight face.

The sad part with this example is that it's not unusual, and there is not a whole heck of a lot that can be done about it in a country like ours with a free press.

I suppose organizing boycotts of US companies that trade in this sort of garbage is one thing, but other than that I don't know what else can be done.

From a US Government action to be taken, the model of the Radio Free Europe and all the other US news outlets being fully funded and operating is one way to present both sides of the story. I'm not sure if we are doing enough in this area, or are we putting out an information/entertainment product of sufficient quality that can compete with the commercial outlets in the Middle East and other places so that people will actually watch/listen to another point of view.

Just ask the New York Times' stockholders. Never buy one of their products again. The free market will put them down.

We had a similar problem with the local paper. A big liberal outfit bought them, they took the whole news slant way left. Some people got together and brought out an advertiser supported free newspaper. Today the free newspaper is about 100 pages, the liberal rag on a good day is about 15. Free market capitalism.

Who needs anything but the Internet anyway.

Can someone explain to me how a five-year old child suffers a fatal head wound from falling off a swing?

"a man's admiration for absolute government is proportinate to the contempt he feels for those around him". Tocqueville

About 45 years ago, my Dad's cousin had a baby fall off the couch - and die from the injury.

are probably as poorly run and maintained as everything else in the PA.

Even if that's not the reason, I'm sure most of us remember trying to swing as high as we could once we got going.

1. Child falls off swing.
2. Child sustains minor injury from the fall (scrapes & cuts).
3. Distraught parent calls 911, ambulance is sent.
4. Paramedics arrive on the scene to attend to the child.
5. A Jewish paramedic notes that the child is Muslim
6. Paramedic breaks the child's neck because that's just what Jews do.

Any more silly questions?

-----
If "pro" is the opposite of "con", what is the opposite of "progress"?

Anyone who has bought advertising in a trade journal or the business section of a newspaper knows that they will be given the opportunity to contribute to the publication. Usually this consits of an article that is shaded to push the need for their particular product or type of product. A good example is if you look in medical business magazines you will see articles on claim coding or the coming rise of Electronic Medical Records or Electronic Health records. The articles will almost always be written by the employees of the companies with adverts in the magazine.

Hezbollah is providing the content that newsweek and time want. They are seeking the bleeding lead. Hezbollah gives it to them on the cheep so lazy journalists can meet their deadlines without breaking a sweat.

The reason this doesn't get fixed is the press doesn't want it to get fixed and to many people make use of it to let it get fixed.

The death of any child, espcially in war is tragic event. However, when will the MSM start to understand our enemy? Did they not learn from the beheadings there is no end to their inhumanity.

Whether intentional or not it shows a disgraceful lack of discretion and judgement. These were once defining credentials but are now their apparent anathema.

"Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori"

"Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori"

to make the U.S. and its allies look like child killing, civilian bombing, indiscriminate murderers. The national media, wanting to assist in proving this at all costs, makes it up when they can't find it.
Besides the above photograph and its back-handed, fourth page, caption rewrite, they also stage child death scenes. Using the same child, (sometimes dirty, sometimes cleaned) they paraded him around in different locations and different scenarios, passing him off as about seven different casulties. And if the distruction in the background isn't enough, they use Photoshop to add to it. Recently Reuters removed over 900 photos apparently distorted to show a larger number munitions dropped than actually occured. They then needed to doctor the images of the destruction caused by these fake bombs.

has chosen sides and it isn't the USA. You might call what they're doing "reaching out", but did they have to pick terrorism? Patriotism is a sometimes thing I guess.
