General Hoffa, Reporting For Duty!

The RS Insider hears that House Democratic Leaders turned down a chance to meet with General Petraeus this morning – and considering how they were busy rolling out their plan to undercut him today, that’s understandable.

But it’s interesting to see who they have been meeting with as they formulated their antiwar plan.  Top Generals?  Academic experts?

Well, no…

But any dilution of Murtha's original proposal is likely to infuriate the antiwar wing of the party, which wants dramatic action now. After a conference call yesterday, antiwar and labor groups all but gave up on Murtha's approach, concluding they could only support a war-funding "supplemental" bill if it contains a deadline for withdrawing troops.

The RS Insider understands why Democrats might not want to face General Petraeus, but we must admit surprise that Democrats Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi are openly inviting Labor Unions and Moveon.org to direct the Democratic Party’s military strategy.

I understand. They (Dem leaders) may need some new talking points and timelines from their client, al-Sadr, and have them translated before they can confront Petraeus. Always good to consult the client first.

No surprise when I see the following groups involved:

"Service Employees International Union, MoveOn.org, Win Without War and the Iraq veterans group VoteVets."

The Democrats sadden me every day that I read the newspapers. They really, really hate the U.S. and our military people.

When I see Hillary! and Murtha saying they support the troops but undermining their efforts as fast as they can, it really makes me wish that we had a strong Republican base that would stand up and say "We're mad as hell, and we're not gonna take it anymore!"

"No compromise with the main purpose, no peace till victory, no pact with unrepentant wrong." - Winston Churchill

I had to go take a walk after reading this. This makes my blood boil more than anything else. I joined ROTC in school and as soon as I graduate I am in the army. Is this how the democrats are going to run the country if they keep control of congress or take the white house? Honestly! Are all our military decisions going to be based on the wants and desires of BLOGGERS!! ARGH! I can't even believe this! I can understand the dems wanting to pull out of Iraq if they feel there is no chance of victory. But then why not TALK TO THE GENERAL IN CHARGE!?!?!?! AHHHHH I need another walk!

International Affairs is just Political Science with an accent.
