Democrats: Dazed, Confused, Befuddled
umm, finding common ground starts with being on the same planet kids

This has become a really bad rendition of an old comedy routine. How can we argue the merits and alternate strategies of a thing when we can't seem to understand it or agree on where it is even taking place?
Consider this shimmering genius from the Speaker of the House:
What Congress is trying to do is a responsible redeployment and change of mission in Iraq so that we can focus on three things -- redeployment out, readiness of our troops, strengthening our military to protect our interests wherever they may be threatened, and focusing on the real war on terror, which is in Afghanistan, as well, now, as in Iraq.
We have said the troops can stay, a small number could stay, whatever number necessary to fight the Al Qaida. But we must get our combat troops out of that civil war in Iraq.
We are trying to find our common ground. That's where I told him the House Democrats were.
Ummm...first of all that's 4 things Nancy, and second of all (and more importantly) please help me understand how you square redeploying out of Iraq with "strengthening our Military to protect our interests...so we can focus on the real war on terror...which is now in...Iraq as well?"
Nancy Pelosi has to be, bar none, the most abjectly stupid person to ever hold a leadership position in American Government. Perhaps replacing her with Sheehan WOULD, in fact, be a net gain for Pelosi's district...ok, maybe that's going too far.
More below the fold...
The North American average IQ is touted as being 98 and further study indicates that "individuals with an unusually low IQ score, varying from about 70 ("Educable Mentally Retarded") to as low as 20 (usually caused by a neurological condition), are considered developmental difficulties. However, there is no true IQ-based classification for developmental disabilities."
Now, perhaps Harry and Nance have IQs above 70, but based on the science, the words and deeds of these clowns would indicate that some degree of cognitive dysfunctionality exists in them, somewhere around the margins.
Reid, in classic Democrat style, continues the ever-popular tack - denial and deflection. Suggesting this is the Bush War, Reid reminds us once again of how the Democrats insist on having it both ways:
This war is the president's war and the Republicans have bought this war hook, line and sinker. We've done our very best [to do the right thing for our country]. We've kept the president's foot to the fire and, as a result of that, we believe the American people see what we have here. We have a Bush war supported by Republicans in Congress.
If it's not his war, why does he need to be holding ANYONE'S feet to ANY fire? Why can't he just go to Vegas and gamble away his Real Estate holdings?
In another of his bloviations, Reid reflected on his college days:
In college, I took a course in logic and sometimes even though you may think we do a lot of illogical things around here, I'm forced to think logically.
We're trying to complete our appropriation bills. I explained to the president that the appropriation bills add up to almost $1 trillion. Last year, the Republican-dominated Congress, was $55 billion over what the president wanted. He signed off on that.
There were no lectures given about increasing taxes or that it was the people's money, not the government's money, not a single lecture given about that. Now, we're $21 billion over what the president wants and we get all these lectures all the time, This isn't your money. It's the taxpayers' money, even though all we're trying to do is restore what he's taken from this place.
Ok, I have a question. Are we whiz quizzing our Political heroes? Because, that man is surely smoking something
To argue that the real war on terror is somewhere...ANYWHERE but Iraq is just the Dem's way of pandering to the shirt-tearing screamers out there hell bent on never taking up arms in self-defense. Make no mistake, if they really DID redeploy troops to Afghanistan there would be every bit as many howls and screams from the pacifists. Further, making the US Military commit it's resources to executing a manhunt for ONE guy in the naive belief that his capture and death would put this whole terrorism "thingy" behind us is, well, abjectly stupid. But I repeat myself.
The MoveOn money machine (and others) are paying good money for bad theater: (more able to do so when they find decent opportunities to save money elsewhere )
Pelosi - "The American people long ago rejected the President's plan to stay in Iraq, which is why they voted for a New Direction in 2006. Yet, with his veto pen and the 60-vote hurdle in the Senate, the President is preventing the redeployment of our troops, the rebuilding of our military, and the refocusing of our nation's efforts on fighting terrorism."
And they're paying for this too:
Reid - "Al-Qaida is resurgent. We know the Middle East is destabilized and Iraq remains in a state of civil war. It appears the president has dug in, unwilling to recognize his strategy is putting all the burden on our military. And it's simply not working."
This, in SPITE of the fact that Reid and company only offer amendments - political stunts - to thwart a President rather than give on the ground or in the conference room alternatives to help win this thing. Their credibility, and that of the movement which pays them, is gone.

While those of us who believe winning should be the ultimate goal of fighting wars continue to be denigrated and deemed desperate losers in some circles, I would offer the desperate losers among us are the ones we now find behind The Great Oz's curtain.

Contra your breezy assertion, there are many people with a legitimate shot at being crowned "the most abjectly stupid person to ever hold a leadership position in American Government." I admit that Pelosi's raised the bar something fierce, but I'm confident that at least Reid and Boxer will be able to advance to the next round.
;)
The Fuzzy Puppy of the VRWC. I've been usurped!
then decided to stick with Pelosi...Boxer is as senseless as Pelosi but can actually string coherent...er, articulate sentences together, as loony as they are. She IS a Box of Rocks, though. Reid is as duplicitous and corrupt as he is stupid.
Quite a team they've got there.

Is almost but not quite right - but he gets high marks for even getting that close!
(I assume he was shooting for Russian, in which case the second letter is wrong. Ironically, it would be correct in Ukrainian, but then the last letter would be wrong (though correct in Russian.))

Reporter: Speaker Pelosi, if George Bush was struck by lightning tomorrow and the news caused Dick Cheney to have a heart attack and die, you would take over as President and Commander in Chief. How many troops would you immediately return home from Iraq and how many of them would you immediately move to Afghanistan?
Pelosi: Um, well, We I mean I would have to uh consult with with the generals and um with the Iraqi and Afghani governments so that--
Reporter: But you'd have to fire General Petraeus since you've said he's a liar. Whom would you appoint in his place?
Pelosi: Well I uh did not say--
Reporter: And you have said the Iraqi government leadership is worthless, so why would you even deal with them instead of just telling them we're leaving and it's their problem as you have been saying President Bush should do?
Pelosi: ...
Just askin' because it's been busy around here lately and maybe I missed it? When did Congress get the job of running our military strategy? I thought that was the job of...ummm...the military?
Let me get this straight. Congress sends a man with 35 years of military experience and impeccable academic credentials to commence a new strategy and provide his assessment report. Now his chain of command provides the data, the General consolidates it and gives an analysis using a methodology approved by CIA/DIA. Next, Democrats don't like the results because it does not fit their anti-war meme. Then Democrats and their mouthpieces (see anti- American groups like MoveOn) fallaciously impugn the General, say he lying (which basically means the entire CoC is lying, but hey they support the troops) and say their “strategy” should replace his. This is all because American’s voted to “end the war” in 2006 when they elected Democrats (see their approval ratings thus far, oh and why people can’t stand them). Bout’ right so far?
Now Reid and Pelosi, who can not seem to come up with a strategy to pass any legislation (their constitutionally assigned “day job”) want everyone to believe their plan trumps anything our military can prepare (for our own good, of course). In NY, we call this talking out of your “shorts” (deference to posting rules). Frankly, they ought to stay with Real Estate and wineries, since that seems to work better for them.
In a selfish way, I hope they keep repeating their reasons for winning in 2006, chumming with MoveOn, Code Pink, et al and preparing for the world series of abject stupidity. Every time they open their mouths the trophy is one step closer….

Pelosi's San Francisco liberalism hangs like a wet cloth over her brain.
Jim Clybourne, made a statement a few weeks ago that, if General Petraeus reports progress in Iraq,"it will be a problem for us", speaking for the Democrats. Putting aside the treasonous statement for the moment, turns out he was correct.
The congressman can always be seen on TV as a backdrop when Pelosi is speaking. That's his job...taking up space.
Pelosi's quote is actually senseless, truly without sense or meaning. Reid continues to give islamic murderers a free ride, it's Bush's war not the terrorists war, which Democrats continue to fund. But thanks Harry for telling us that islamic terror leaves you unmoved, thereby informing us that you are a barbarian who happens to wear a suit.
It would be a small comfort if somewhere in media offices the people who continue to keep the Democratic party alive at least frowned on Pelosi's sub-human, bovine doltishness.
And they laughed at Dan Burton !

That's a dumb thing to say. Perhaps even dumber than some of things GWB has said!

Anyway, I was reading this, this morning: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20751312/ and when Howard Zin said, "When I listen to Petraeus, I hear the generals of Vietnam assuring us that they are winning."
I started thinking about sports. So, what if we are losing? We scored the first touchdown and they came back and scored three more. Its halftime, do we pack up and leave since we had a bad first half or do we go back out there and try to turn the game around and win.
Mistakes have been made, but that doesn't mean that the war on terror isn't as important, and worth fighting, now as it was on 9/11. Has anything this important ever been easy in our nation's history?
in the main, telling the truth, the American people just didn't know it because of the steady drumbeat of defeatism in the MSM. The Left are one-trick ponies and they're doing it again. Unfortunately, it seems to be working again.

Im personally against the Iraq war, but hugely in favor of a massive surge in Afghanistan and getting the terrorists in Pakistan.
Understandable, I'm not 100% sure Iraq was a good idea to start either; but since AQ has arrived there we should probably kick them out before we leave to prevent them from either slaughtering those Iraqis that are trying to create a democracy or force them to become soldiers for their cause. You know what I mean?
I think the 1920 Revolution Brigades have the right idea. Let’s work together to get AQ out, and then its time for the US to leave so that Iraqis can figure out their own future. Of course, we will have to keep an eye on that progress because no one really trusts the 1920 RB, either.
And like you, I'm all for finishing the job in Afghanistan, too; and anywhere else that harbors, promotes, funds, or trains terrorists.
Except for the problem is were not just focusing on AQ in Iraq. The bottom line is that there are too many Iraqis who are willing to use violence against us and their own people. That can only be solved by a political solution. I dont see why we would need 130K troops to get AQ in Iraq, lets leave like 50-70 and work on training Iraqi forces and killing AQ, and let them police themselves. Make the Iraqis step up for once.

It has been patently obvious for years, but never more so since she became Speaker, that this woman is mentally deficient and entirely unfit for the position or Congress itself...even given the intellectual deficiencies of that body as a whole.
That she is the Dem Speaker of the House says it all about that party. (The incredible stupidity and duplicity of Harry Reid is a bonus.)
