A prize-winning Iranian nuclear scientist has died in mysterious circumstances, according to Radio Farda, which is funded by the U.S. State Department and broadcasts to Iran.
An intelligence source suggested that Ardeshire Hassanpour, 44, a nuclear physicist, had been assassinated by Mossad, the Israeli security service.
For once, the Iranians are claiming the Jews aren't responsible. According to the Iranian state news agency:
None of the Iranian nuclear scientists have been assassinated by Moussad because the Israeli intelligence agency is basically incapable of running operations inside Iran, an informed source said here in Tehran on Sunday.
If true, an at this writing the provenance of the story is murky, this is Mossad resorting to a tried and true means of stopping weapons development. In the early 60s the Mossad killed those German V-2 scientists and engineers who couldn't be bribed, cajoled, or threatened into leaving Egypt's missile program. They are the leading suspect in the untimely demise of supergun designer Gerald Bull in Brussels in 1990.
Regardless of who whacked Mr. Hassanpour it is safe to say that the sphincters snapping shut at the Isfahan research facility resembled a thunderclap.

The story is very good news.

Ahmadinejad has now announced that on Feb 11, the Iranian Nuclear program will be vindicated. Whatever that is supposed to mean, it was announced at the same time that Iranian scientists have created a cure for AIDS. It's herbal and entirely without side-effects.
No doubt, Iran will trade that AIDS sure for international acceptance, hands-off the Nuclear Program, and Dhimmiehood for the entire Christian and Jewish world.

Their mistake is understandable, however. The Union of Concerned Scientists rejoiced when they first heard, in December of 2005, that Iran had a cure for AIDS, but when the Iranians said the cure required nuclear power to manufacture, all of the UCS members present spontaneously experienced an explosion of the cranial cavity.
The resulting tidal wave killed thousands in Southern Asia, while the explosion itself raised global temperatures and CO2 levels to record levels.
You can see why the Iranians are sure they have nuclear capacity.
