For “the second day since returning from the House's two-week spring break”, Speaker Pelosi has “delayed appointing lawmakers to finish a war-funding bill, putting off the emergency legislation”.

House Democrats are delaying the Iraq supplemental for what Steny Hoyer says aremore tactical than substantive” reasons

In her defense, Speaker Pelosi has been so busy with everything else that the supplemental just hasn’t been a priority.

Indeed, it’s remarkable what’s not really a priority for the House Democrats these days…

The top military commander in Iraq will make a rare visit to Capitol Hill next week but House Democratic leaders - unlike their Senate counterparts - initially declined the Defense Department's offer of a Members-only closed-door briefing with Army Gen. David Petraeus, according to Congressional and administration sources.

A spokesman for Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) at first acknowledged Tuesday that the Pentagon's request to have Petraeus give a House briefing had been denied due to "scheduling conflicts" next week. Later on Tuesday, Pelosi's office contacted Roll Call stating that the Speaker was now working to set up a session...

about this, I can't even find any good sarcasm to use.

Maybe she could shop online and get used to the kind of communication she is sentencing my son and I to for the next 15 months by her foot dragging! That way she can pay half attention to her job - wait - that would more than double her present attention to it!!! (I guess I recovered a bit)

Soldier's Mom - Golfer's Wife - Home alone a lot

No no no, I'm not insinuating that Petraeus will give Pelosi the wall-to-wall counseling session she deserves.

Instead, I think he might have some pretty direct things to say to her out of the public eye. At which time, Nancy will fold like a cheap suit. And, that's something she doesn't want the Kossacks and Hamshters to see. So, I don't doubt she's hesitant about meeting Petraeus eye-to-eye, without the glare of the public spotlight to soften the way he addresses her.

Again---no no no, I'm not implying Petraeus would be rude. Instead, I think he might be pretty direct, even blunt---something that would cause Madam Speaker to fold like the cheap suit she is.

From the WT article linked to....Mrs. Pelosi, California Democrat, did not name conferees Monday because severe storms slowed some East Coast lawmakers' returns to Washington and because some lawmakers attended Virginia Tech services for the shooting victims, her office said.
"We need the conferees in order to make progress on the bill," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who will join Mrs. Pelosi...

The delay seems to have more to do with storms and shootings. The shopping picture is a nice touch, though.

"The aides said that sending Petraeus is an effort to blunt Democratic criticism of the war."

If calling people to accountability is an effort to blunt their criticism, may the "blunting" begin. Its interesting/humorous/nauseating to watch these people run away from the consequences of their actions.
