The "most open Congress in history," Nancy? Where are the cameras?
Nancy and Obey shut off cameras at hearings for Iraq and Afghan supplementals.

House rules state: "Whenever a hearing or meeting conducted by a committee or subcommittee is open to the public, those proceedings shall be open to coverage by audio and visual means. A committee or subcommittee chairman may not limit the number of television or still cameras to fewer than two representatives from each medium (except for legitimate space or safety considerations, in which case pool coverage shall be authorized)."
House Appropriations Chairman David Obey (D-Cheese) blocked the cameras at Monday afternoon's hearings on the supplemental Iraq and Afghanistan military funding. What are Nancy and Dave hiding?
The NRCC has put together another great vid:
Nancy promised us the "most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history." I call nonsense. How can we restore dingy, defeatist Harry Reid's faith in our troops if they won't open the hearings to his constituents?

Congressional Record (www.thomas.gov I believe)
Of course, congress critters always have the right to "revise and extend their remarks" before that gets printed, so cameras and reporters have become sort of critical to knowing what actually happened during the hearings.
To be honest, this is scary.

Get with it people! Since when have House rules been anything but a living document to Democrats? There's certain to be a vaguely relevant technicality to justify this, and staffers are searching for it at this very moment.
..the Democrats' mouths are lies. We should be used to it by now.

They are allowed to edit the written record before it is finalised.
Clinton promised the very same thing and then went on to discover Secret Service privilege among other dodges and ducks.
He also promised the most honest administration. When you're nuts you can promise anything you want and violate that promise whenever you want, nuts operate under different and ever changing rules. The problem is that most people don't realize that they're nuts.

before they vote against them.
They are obviously getting a lot of practice.
But see, they are intellectually sophisticated. We unwashed are so simple as to beleive keeping our word, standing fast with our nation, and honoring our commitments actually matters.

Apologies for my lack of knowledge of House rules and such but this ban of TV coverage of the negotiations of the Supplemental Funding Bill surely doesn't mean that there won't be a written transcript of the hearings, does it?
And if there will be a transcript, does anyone know where I can view that?
Thanks in advance for the help.
