John Kerry: Man of the People

For a man born to privilege and who has assiduously married his way to even more privilege, Kerry displays an unparalleled deftness when dealing with his social inferiors.

Take this vignette, courtesy of The New York Post, for instance:

On Saturday, Oct. 16, Kerry gave a speech at a high school in the small town of Xenia, outside Dayton. Nearby is Wilberforce University -- the oldest private historically black institution of higher learning, whose president is former Rep. Floyd Flake (D-Queens).

A rally, mainly of students from Wilberforce and its sister school, Central State University, was staged at the Wilberforce campus. Organizers were led to believe that if there were at least 100 people, Kerry's motorcade would make a quick stop.

Eventually 150 students and supporters -- including congressional candidate Kara Anastasio -- gathered for four hours on a cold (rainy and snowy) Ohio day.

And the Kerry caravan drove right on by. All the long-suffering got from the candidate was a clenched "victory" fist out the window.

One of the many things that I find creepy about Kerry is his dependence on marrying wealthy women to keep up his richer-than-thou lifestyle. His marriage to THK ups the creep factor because, although she came from a moderately well off colonial family, she got true wealth only when she married Henry Johm Heinz III. This makes Kerry some sort of double gigolo.

Yeah, he's got the interests of the middle class at heart, allright.

is based on the fact that I was there in Xenia on that date to support John Kerry and it was chilly. There was no rain and definitely no snow.  No snow at all. We were quite comfortable in warm jackets with no hats.

So how believable is the rest of this story?

With a minimum temperature of 39 degrees F in Dayton, I find the claim of snow to be impossible to believe. Yet, rain isn't completely unbelievable, though maybe overstated as Dayton did receive .04 inches of rain. Source here. There was obviously some rain in the area, whether it hit Wilberforce or not cannot directly be verified. But I think snow is out of the question...

For a man born to privilege

If your position is that being born to privilege is somehow a bad thing, you may want to look in your own candidate's mirror a bit.

Learn it, live it, love it.

There was no lack of comprehension... I saw your unsubstantiated claim that Kerry blew off some supporters.

I also saw your lead-in that tried to tar the candidate with a "born to privilege" brush... and I wanted to point out that Shrub overprivileged just as much as anyone. More, I think, since he's been bailed out by his father's power and money more times than I can count. Can't say that about Kerry now, can we...
