Ok, I've already heard Andrea Mitchell admit Kerry got softballs while the President got sandbagged.

I've heard Chris Matthews say Bush won.

Track the spin, watch the pundits. Or heck, have at it yourself.

Less stumbling, less incoherence...

America will remember Kerry's slight indictment of Bush's incredible failures but, once again, Kerry should have gone much further and enumerated where exactly Bush has been a colossal failure.

The religious questions will hurt Kerry a bit.

But, Kerry looks and talks presidential; Bush interrupts that nice Charlie Gibson.

America will also remember that Bush tried to blame many things on others; he is, AFAIK, where the buck stops.

America will remember Kerry talking about our troops being overextended.

America will remember Kerry looking into the camera and saying no taxes on <200k.

As I live-blogged at the time, "ASK A FRIGGING SERIOUS QUESTION, PEOPLE! THIS ISN'T THE JERRY SPRINGER SHOW!"

BTW, earlier today, the House passed a version of the 9/11 bill that contains provisions the Bush administration opposed. Those provisions would secure our driver's licenses and prevent the use of foreign ID cards that are only of use to illegal aliens.

Fifteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers had a combined total of 63 separate drivers licenses issued by Virginia, Florida and New Jersey.

The FBI and the DOJ have called those foreign ID cards a security threat.

Yet, the Bush administration wanted to allow those foreign ID cards and keep allowing illegal aliens to get driver's licenses.

Kerry did discuss Bush's failure to secure the homeland, but, unfortunately, he didn't go into details about things like the House bill. If he had we could have started planning the Kerry victory party.

You mean the one who chose the the last question?

Mr. President, name three of your mistakes, and why were they mistakes?   and Senator Kerry, what other 3 mistakes did the President make,,, and why were they so horrible?

That question MIGHT have been appropriate during the first hour, but not as the last question.

Do you support providing Iran with Uranium?

1- Yeah, blow me up!

2- What's uranium?

3- I am a normal person with a pulse, so hell no!

So why in the world didn't Bush make this issue the centerpiece of tonight's debate??

I keep hearing the mistake about calling Kerry "Kennedy" by mistake. I haven't seen it yet. But to me it sounds like it wasn't much of a mistake, and if it was, it was probably an effective mistake. Am I off base here?
