Thune Pulls Ahead

The excellent Daschle v. Thune blog has the results of a NRSC poll showing John Thune pulling ahead of Tom Daschle. The poll of 500 likely South Dakota voters shows Thune leading Daschle 50% to 48%, with a MOE of 4.4%.

And meanwhile, Daschle is running an ad showing him hugging President Bush and showing how much he supports the President. Naturally, the far-left base that's support Daschle should be livid - we'll see how this effects his Hamptons fundraisers.

Thune has a ways to go against the slippery incumbant, but Daschle is in the race for his life, and if anyone can end the reign of the Lizard King of the Senate, John Thune is the man to do it.

I posted a more detailed diary, but you hit the highpoints. I really think Daschle is headed down.

My friends back in South Dakota tell me the hugging ad was a huge mistake.

Meanwhile, let us praise the South Dakota bloggers. They've made a difference.

As much as I hate to see another Republican senator, Daschle has been ineffectual as a party leader. If the Bush ad is true, he deserves defeat for not sticking to his guns.

Yo big 3, can we endorse Thune and get some money going his way or are we stretched with Coburn, DeMint, and Kline.  This could be the symbolic race of the year if Reps sweep the house, senate, and presidency again.

It would probably be of more value to direct dollars to Thune with DeMint looking more and more like a sure thing over Tennenbaum.

And beating the minority leader?  Talk about shockwaves...
