Let's Make The Lefties Really Mad

One of the most amazing bits of news to come from Campaign 2004 is the overwhelming success of the internet as a fundraising tool for lefty causes. Howard Dean, Kos, etc. have all tapped into the power of angry lefty suburbanites who, when not driving diesel fueled Volvos, sending out phony emails about Bush re-instituting the draft, and telling the New York Times how guilty they feel because they are successful and had no friends in school, send contributions to lefty candidates and lefty causes that are usually anti-military, anti-growth, and anti-family.

Red State, collaborative Republicanism for the masses, is one of the few online competitors of the leftists that can generate contributions for candidates committed to the party of Reagan and the ideas of Hayek, Buckley, and Friedman (you haven’t been spending enough time here if you got lost on those last three).

Tomorrow night a very important deadline passes. It is closing time for the last three months of fundraising for federal candidates. Any money raised through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2004, must be reported to the Federal Election Commission in a disclosure filed on October 15, 2004. Red Staters, it is time to show the Left that we can generate online dollars too. No amount of money is too small to give to ensure a Republican Congress, and most importantly, a secure Republican Senate.

The Red State Board of Directors, known to Star Trek buffs everywhere as “The Founders” (cue ominous music), has chosen several races where our dollars will have an impact and will help ensure a conservative Republican Congress in 2005. Please consider joining us in backing some very good candidates who will support a pro-growth, pro-family, pro-military agenda and really piss off the Lefties (some of them might even move out of the country!!!).

Below are the picks. Remember the drill. When you give, give in denominations with $0.02 added in, to signify the donation coming through Red State. Finally, remember that the editors of Red State would not ask you to do something if we have not done it too. We’ve put our money on the line for these candidates. We hope you will do the same. Any contribution will be welcome by these candidates.

The candidates are:

Tom Coburn in Oklahoma

Jim DeMint in South Carolina

Pete Coors in Colorado, and no, buying a six pack does not count as a contribution.

Remember, get your contribution in before midnight, tomorrow night.

Contributions to candidates for office are not tax deductible. The Federal Election Commission requires that contributors giving $200.00 or more provide their address, occupation, and employer to the campaigns for reporting purposes.

Let's give 'em something to talk about.  3rd quarter filing is tonight.  Get your donation in.  $20.02, $50.02, $100.02.  Let's see how many donations we can place before midnight.

A little here, a little there and RedState will be on the fundraising map.  Do you part, join the net roots in keeping the Senate Republican!

500.02 each to Coburn & Coors

Anyone care to top that?

But, I think a site like this for intelligent Republican activism can only be a good thing, so I support what you guys are doing.

But don't you think there are better candidates to throw your support behind than Tom Coburn?

The guy supports the death penalty for people that perform abortions.  Pro-life is one thing, but that's just absurd.

Carson seems like a decent, honest guy and he's running an innovative campaign.  There are plenty of good Rpublicans running against crummy Democrat, why don't you concentrate on those?

Like Thune vs Daschle.  I wouldn't shed a tear if Daschle got run out of town.

...in the words of doverspa:

http://www.doverspa.com/2004/08/why-i-support-dr-coburn-over.html

Generally agree with that post. I'm a big fan of small government, and not scared away by his social conservatism because his strong points are also things that he can affect, and his negatives things he can't..he can't create, say, a law that gives the death penalty to abortionists.

And definitely, yes, Thune vs. Daschle

I wish I could top it, but you've shamed me into jumping on board.

$50.02 to Coburn

$50.02 to Coors.

AND I'll buy a six-pack.

Honestly of all the gaffes you could choose from, this is probably the least likely to upset people in Oklahoma or conservative circles.  If you a) believe abortion is murder and b) believe the death penalty is just in the case of murder, it isn't very far to c) abortionists should recieve the death penalty.  He pointed out that his view is that abortion should be made illegal and then if someone illegally performs an abortion they should be punished.  He emphatically did not say that people who perform abortions now should get punished.  And if Roe v. Wade is ever overturned, I believe some states (including Oklahoma) may institute a death penalty for abortionists.

Nevertheless, that position is less important to me than two other things.  1) He will confirm judges that the President nominates and 2) He is the most ardent small government candidate in the country.  That is his MAIN issue.  And if you want more explanation, please feel free to check out my blog following the race at www.doverspa.com/okies_corner.htm (link below).

Gary, you are a King among men.

And I was all proud of my 100.02...

Let's keep it coming, folks! Try to match Gary!

The same reason I'm going to vote for "Repeal the First Amendment" McCain, or people in Pennsylvania should vote for S.P.E.C.T.R.E.

The most important vote they make is the first one in 2005: who is Majority Leader.

If that makes Me an opportunistic jackal, well, I used to be a libertarian purist on September 10, 2001.
