There Is Still Time

There is still time to help some great Republicans running for the United States Senate. If you can give, please give before midnight tonight so it counts on their current disclosure report.

Below are the picks. Remember the drill. When you give, give in denominations with $0.02 added in, to signify the donation coming through Red State. Finally, remember that the editors of Red State would not ask you to do something if we have not done it too. We’ve put our money on the line for these candidates. We hope you will do the same. Any contribution will be welcome by these candidates.

The candidates are:

Tom Coburn in Oklahoma

Jim DeMint in South Carolina

Pete Coors in Colorado, and no, buying a six pack does not count as a contribution.

Remember, get your contribution in before midnight, tonight.

Contributions to candidates for office are not tax deductible. The Federal Election Commission requires that contributors giving $200.00 or more provide their address, occupation, and employer to the campaigns for reporting purposes.

I just gave $25.02 to Coors. He has the most complete on-line contribution form I've seen -- you have to click yes to several disclosure questions before being able to give moneys. You have to, for example, affirmatively state you are not a foreign national.

Good defensive politics. The onus is on the contributor, not the campaign.

I was puzzled by the demand that you affirm that you are 18 or older. The courts have determined that children can give money to federal campaigns.

Now, as a long-time beer drinker from the West, I'm pleased to give money to Coors. But I will refrain from giving money to the Senator from Maine.

You know....Olympia.

I am totally guessing here... but could the 18 be because it is online (i.e. credit card) instead of it being a donor legality.
