Support The Victims Of Communism Memorial Foundation

As noted here, the Victims Of Communism Memorial Foundation needs to raise $125,000 (by the start of December, according to a mailing sent to me) in order to secure the site allotted to it for its memorial. A memorial to those who have suffered under what was along with Nazism the 20th Century's most brutal and despicable ideology is certainly called for. It won't bring back the dead and it will do nothing to erase the memories of torture that continue to burden the lives of the living. But it will show that we remember, that our outrage against the perpetrators of this depravity is eternal and that our support will never flag for those who labored and labor to show the world the bankruptcy inherent in communism and who fight to free all those who remain enslaved to it.
Remember, after all, that the fight against communism is not over. Communist parties continue to vie for influence in Europe, they continue to restrain the near-limitless potential of the Chinese and they make life a nightmare in North Korea. Merely because the Cold War is over does not mean that this pernicious ideology has died out or that people don't continue to suffer at its hands.
We can stop the suffering someday. We can commemorate it and those who bring their light to the darkness today. Please give what you can. Many thanks.

it is a known fact that communism caused both the Iraq war and Hurricane Katrina.
get with the program.
The Ninja spins.
The Pile gets bigger.
By two.
Haiku verra much.
Let's see...
Reflexive defense of Communism (in this case by absurdly comparing its six decades of human oppression and 100 million murders around the globe to a hurricane (!))... check!
Invocation of the Iraq War in a wholly unrelated thread... check!
Invocation of Bush/Republicans hate the poor in a wholly unrelated thread... check!
Invocation of Bush/Republicans hate blacks in a wholly unrelated thread... check!
Invocation of one or more of the evil terrorists O'Reilly / Coulter / Limbaugh in a wholly unrelated thread... check!
Alternate spelling of "America" with a "k" to indicate how the country has descended into a fascist dictatorship... check!
Nick, go on, admit it: these weren't real users. You were just testing out a simple script that interjects random talking points onto whatever story is at the top of the page, right?
are the occasional posts by apparently sincere liberal wackjobs who think that by confusing issues together they can divert attention away from their secret desire.
Making a list of non-related items, and declaring them equivalent, is a great tactic for someone without fact or substance. Ascribing false motives to the original writer in the diversionary accusation is another great tactic for one with hidiing their disappointment over the lack of good communists to shut this place down. Throwing in a feeble attempt at a sneering, snarky style in a hope of intimidating people away from remembering the foolishness and wickedness of the most deadly ideology of the 20th century is a good way to hide one's disapointment in that ideologiy's failure.
Perhaps a lefty loser would think that they have struck a great blow [for what, exactly?] in their little example of poorly written bad manners, but then, like in nearly everything to do with what is good or important or sensibel, that lefty would be wrong.
The tens of millions who suffered and died under the most deadly ideology of the last century.
No matter how many lefty hacks try and change the subject, it is worth solemnly memorializing the human cost of the great struggle of the post WWII era. It gives greater meaning to the sacrifice made by tens of thousands of American soldiers and other patriots who loved freedom and understood the nature of what we faced.
So far as I can tell, these were actual liberal trolls. All the 'bots are in San Francisco this weekend for the Robot Fighting League's 2005 National Championships.
Just be glad that Survival Research Lab doesn't go into the software bot business. :-)
Some quotes attributed to Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin:
· A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.
· The pope? How many divisions does he have?
· The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.
· Death solves all problems - no man, no problem.
· Gratitude is a sickness suffered by dogs.
· Print is the sharpest and the strongest weapon of our party.
· Quantity is quality
You've discovered the original source of Democrat election strategy!
The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.
isn't that precisely how G.W. made it to the White House in 2000?
Not only are you confused, you're banned. Talk about tired memes... the old "selected, not elected" hoo-hah. That is so five years ago.
Communism killed tens of millions of people and caused the repression of billions more. Surely those victims deserve a memorial.
Ironic how many liberals' "concern for others" stops when the victims are victims of a left-wing ideology. Reaffirms my belief that the difference between communism and left-liberalism is more of degree than of kind.
In 2000, Gore tried to prevail by recounting and recounting using shifting rules. The rule of law prevailed, and the Dems have been wining ever since . . .
Because of all places to put money towards.....
A memorial to "victims of 'communism'" trumps every victim of:
I don't know about the rest of you, but I really appreciate the italics. Because there really were no victims of communism, right?
Personally, I think we should have a memoral to the victims of the left. As a good starting point, the victims of the French Revolution, and we would have to include the victims of communism as well as National Socialism (and the various related fascist movements).
Nick Danger creates,
troll posts to ban.
Why?
For Haiku to be written.
I thought Stalin's name was "Ioseb Jughashvili."
A genocidal maniac by any name is still as deadly.
Or do you wish to take the position that his nom de despot, "Man of Steel" should not be used?
"Gaiety is the most outstanding feature of the Soviet Union."
Kos Koolaid Kids, you come from the shallow end of the gene pool.

Because of all places to put money towards.....
A memorial to "victims of 'communism'" trumps every victim of:
Katrina (those worthless blacks and poor wretched scabs on society for not being rich enough to buy out of their already destitute position into a brand spanking new mortgate)
Wilma (those worthless blacks and poor wretched scabs on society for not being rich enough to buy out of their already destitute position into a brand spanking new mortgate)
The Iraq War (yeah our VA is doing a commendable job as they get their funding cut by Republicans left and right)
The jobless (because if you have any skills you'd already be a millionaire...otherwise your'e a worthless scab on society)
The Poor (see above)
You should be commended.
You're another who makes this site a great companion to The Onion.
You're fast becoming a self-parody. Please don't stop. It's comedy on the most base level of schaedenfreude.
Keep the laughs comin ;-)
