Here we go again,
The Republicans in Name Only, in the US Senate have "indefinitely" suspended the nomination of John Bolton as ambassador to the UN. This time, the leading culprit was Voinavich of Ohio, who didn't even bother to attend the hearings last week. He said that he didn't feel comfortable voting today. It is Senators like Hagel, Voinavich, Chaffee, et al who waste having a majority. What exactly are we going accomplish with such spineless weasels.
WHERE IS THE WHITE HOUSE???
started at 11:00pm eastern
I'd like the White House to withdraw the nomination and nominate someone who doesn't work to undermine the U.N. whenever possible. But since that isn't going to happen, I'm siding with anyone who blocks this nomination from moving forward.
Maybe my letters and calls paid off.
Bolton, Estrada, Priscilla Owens, William Myers, etc. are real people who are being sabotaged by Democrats and cowardly Republicans whose actions clearly imply that these choices are extremist.
You want extremists? How about Ruth Bader Ginsburg? Obviously, the Democrats have again taken the step of breaking new ground when it comes to using unethical tactics to try to score points with their base.
I had some hope that McCain would stop being a jerk and start acting like a real conservative. Not anymore. I will never campaign for that man and I will bet any amount of money he does not ever get nominated for president.
We can win with Frist. Maybe even Giuliani.
The people have chosen Republicans to lead in the Senate, not be dragged around by the smallest Democratic minority in 60 years.
This is total crap.
Frist doesn't have Bush's ability to talk to people. If he wasn't so likeable, he'd have lost to Kerry.
Guliani can't win the GOP primary. Heck, I don't think he can win even one Red State - except maybe Florida. He's pro-choice, pro-gun-control, pro-gay marriage. RedState certainly wouldn't endorse him. He's not a conservative.
might not endorse him and I might not even vote for him in the primaries if someone held views closer to mine and seemed electable. But I will guarantee you one thing, if Guiliani was my party's nominee, I'd work like a dog to make sure he was elected over just about ANYBODY the dems put up.
Could have beat Kerry with the platform Kerry ran on. And that's from the grave. Without makeup.
So the Red States would actually vote for a (presumably liberal) Democrat over a centrist Republican? Somehow I have trouble seeing that.

really blindsided Richard Lugar, the chairman of the foreign relations committee. At one point Lugar said, "We have 10 Republicans who want to vote for John Bolton," while Democrats were delaying the committee vote. I think this means that Voinovich didn't tell Lugar privately that he had doubts about Bolton.
