Food Fight!

We are called to war. It appears the Democrats will have it no other way. They and their allies in the Old Media seem determined to keep their "swirling question" slime-machine trained on Rep. DeLay. And so today we begin Operation Counterslime and Operation Shot-Over-the-Bow.

It will be up to us on the right side of the blogosphere to make sure that the counterslime reaches its intended targets, for we can be sure that no word of slimy donks will surface in the Press-Democrat.

We begin with the lovely and talented Stephanie Tubbs Jones, an Ohio Democrat who sits on the House ethics committee. It appears that questions have arisen concerning a trip she took to Puerto Rico. According to her, "human error" led a staffer to list the name of D.C. lobbyist firm Smith, Dawson & Andrews as having paid the $3,366 tab for Mrs. Jones and her husband to travel to Puerto Rico. Perhaps, but now that "questions have been raised," "the appearance of impropriety" has reared its ugly head. A member of the House Ethics Committee taking trips paid for by lobbyists? Surely this is worthy of investigation. Rep. Tubbs should "come clean" with the voters.

And so should House Minority Leader and press-appointed Speakerette of the House Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi was fined by the Federal Election Commission in November 2002 for improperly operating two political action committees.

The commission told Pelosi, then minority whip, to close one of her two PACs, called TEAM Majority, saying she was skirting federal fund-raising limits by operating two PACs.

The commission imposed a $21,000 fine on Pelosi, who continued to run her other fund-raising committee, known as PAC To the Future.

Did you know any of this? Neither did I. Apparently it escaped notice by the press; a deficiency that surely deserves to be remedied. Repeatedly, now that food fight season has begun.

And then we have Her Nibs. It seems that the Justice Department has had a Ted Kennedy in-law carrying a wire for them as he has held numerous Interesting Conversations in his role as a top Democratic fund-raiser.

So the FBI now has tapes of Hillary Clinton's finance guy, now under indictment in L.A., admitting that he understated the cost of that "Hollywood Gala" they held for the Clintons that raised over a million dollars for her Senate campaign. Watch this one; it's gonna get Real Good. Rahm Emmanuel especially should watch it as he observes in action that old C programming dictum:
