Bill Maher opens his stupid big yap again

Bill Maher once again sticks his foot in it.

For all the stupid junk Maher says (clearly from reading too much NYT) I don't have such a problem with his assertion that the low-hanging fruit has been recruited.  Obviously, when the military is reviled in much of the country, you end up with shortages of troops.  Hard to come up with quality officers when elitist Ivy League colleges refuse to permit ROTC recruiting on campus.  (Better to let those dumb slouch hicks go fight our wars, right?)  Add to that an environment where the Army is accused of covering up fratricide and ordering dumb Lyndie England to "torture" soldiers, no wonder recruiting is challenged.

So strangely, Bill Maher complains about the very problem he has helped create.  How ironic.  Perhaps if he showed any clue about what maintains the freedom to talk like an idiot and get paid millions to do it, he might show enough respect for soldiers to actually encourage his flag-burning audience to sign up, pick up a rifle, and make some use of their sorry lives.   He deeply respects the military because he builds his career upon their spilled guts.  Gee, thanks Bill!

When they returned and continued with their opinions I'd sure have a lot more respect for them and their ideas.

Unfortunately it is out of fashion for today's liberals to cease being part of the problem and start being part of the solution.

...Hard to come up with quality officers when elitist Ivy League colleges refuse to permit ROTC recruiting on campus...

Unless I misread this you appear to imply that that "quality" officer material is better to be found at the "quality" schools --- the product of the "lesser" schools is of somewhat shakey quality. Absent more access to the "quality" schools our military is being led by less than "quality" officers. Afterall the "better" officers are produced where the tuition is $35,000/year.

you're right, there's no reason why those schools would produce better officers.  I'd like to say there are lots of Ivy League officers who aren't as good as regular guy school but there are too few to compare.  I guess I adopted the Liberal mode of thinking too much in my diary!  Thanks for sanity checking.

Would it not be more accurate to make the observation that young Americans and the parents of young Americans are likely more affected by the casualty figures coming out of Iraq and by the obvious dangers inherent in occupying the country than by the comic routine of a cable show host?

Hell we can't even control Bahgdad, we own the airport and the green zone but not the road that connects the two.

Sheesh!

...you have been watching CNN again. How many times do I have to tell you ...

Everthing is much better on Fox.

I just can't leave the reality shows alone.

...When they returned and continued with their opinions I'd sure have a lot more respect for them and their ideas.  What about that loser Kerry? You don't respect HIM do you? No. i think the best idea is this-never 2nd guess the U.S.-No one. Ever. Period. I also think the best way around the Liberal media filters is bring back the DRAFT! Including Mr Maher.

For your short time here, please, we beg, be internally consistent. It makes your work more amusing, and frankly, there's no other value to be gleaned from it.

is the hobgoblin of little minds  ;)
