Democrat Walker Convicted

A Federal jury convicted Democrat State Senator Charles Walker  of more than 125 counts of mail fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy.  Walker is automatically removed from his State Senate seat and Governor Sonny Perdue will call a special election to replace him.

Walker is the former President pro-tem of the Senate, where he wielded enormous power and used that power for his own personal benefit.  According to the Associated Press report:

He was accused of stalling a hospital funding bill until Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta agreed to hire his temporary employment agency. They also said he illegally used campaign contributions and took money from a football game that raises scholarship money for poor children.

While I  don't rejoice at a person's downfall, all those concerned with good government should applaud Walker's conviction.

A quote from your story;

"Justice is blind," said Senate President Pro Tem Eric Johnson, R-Savannah. "It might seem like a bad summer for politicians in Augusta, but regardless of party, the justice system is working and that is what Georgians should be proud of."

When I see corruption corrected, I rejoice for the Republic. Sorry, I have little if any pitty for a corrupt public official, no matter what level it may occure.

Johnson said it best, "Justice is blind".

Johnson said it best, "Justice is blind".

Don Johnson?

Samuel Johnson?

Johnson and Johnson?

Andrew Johnson?

Lyndon Johnson?  No, not him.  He said, "Until justice is blind to color, until education is unaware of race, until opportunity is unconcerned with the color of men's skins, emancipation will be a proclamation but not a fact."

The goddess of justice has worn a blindfold since Roman times.

"Invention is almost the only literary labour which blindness cannot obstruct."
