Well, I made it out alive. No mean feat considering a room full of FEC lawyers, you know.
The hearing before Chairman Ney's Committee on House Administration ("Should Political Speech Be Regulated") was a great experience - granted, it cost me a good bit of sleep, and watching the panel before my own didn't do much to make me less nervous. Commissioners Thomas, Toner, and Weintraub all acquitted themselves very well - especially, I think - Commmissioner Weintraub. While I might not agree with many of her views on campaign finance - she acknowledged much of the difficult reality of stepping into this regulatory universe.
There was only one Democrat present for the balance of the hearing - Zoe Lofgren of California. I had a feeling that Larry Noble was in for a long day when she opened her remarks with great skepticism about regulating the internet at all. Not surprising, considering her district - but Kudos to her.
Chairman Ney ran a smooth hearing and certainly made it comfortable to appear and testify. All in all - I think it was an effective presentation, and my bias aside - I think that those who support less regulation got the best of the day.
The hearing was taped, we're working on getting the feed up on the web, and if anyone asks - yes, I did tell Congressman Ehlers that he "looked pretty normal for a Congressman."

And thanks for the update - I hadn't told you before, but Toner is married to the daughter of a family friend out here on the Left Coast ; )
Hey, how about a link to the CR when it comes out?
The AP report is now at Yahoo:
And a wholly apt aside from one of the gods:

The name Krempasky will endure in the Congressional Record from this day until the ending of the world.
