This afternoon, just prior to the outside witness testimony beginning, I was at the Senate gift shop between Hart and Dirksen to purchase a small toy for my baby girl.
Yes, in there working hard to prepare for the oustide witness testimony was none other than Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA).
She either escaped the clutches of the Left wing groups, or wasn't taking the Alito hearings very seriously and went shopping instead.
Yes, yet another comical episode from the week Alito hearings.
As an aside, Senator Feinstein purchased two puzzles.

she was the only democrat not to flee the panel of judges like vampires from sunlight.
and despite agreeing with her on practically nothing, she is one of the few democrats I have any respect for any longer, because it seems to me she comes by it pretty honestly
Because at times she can't be as candid as other, much more "puzzling" women that I have known. But I'll give her the benefit of the doubt -- the biggest gripe I have with Feinstein is that every time guns are talked about, she comes back with the word: "ban."
I'd be happy, personally, to ask her to take an adventure with me and discover that actually the responsible gun owners in this country aren't the problem. If she could find her way out of that morass, I'd be happy to consider some of her other points.
That it wasn't the word "ban." It was the word "confiscate" with which she has a long and storied history at the NRA.
How about a truce, Dianne? Let's say you do what Dan Savage did and visit a shooting range in Texas, find out that you're a natural, and cut the, er, Santorum?
She was late for the hearing. She almost missed her alotted time today. CSPAN is reairing the footage where she barely makes it in time.
Chairman Specter says she had floor assignments. Was that not accurate?
Sen. Feinstein has a problem in the gun control area, in that she feels that HER pistol and concealed weapons permit (from California where you only get one if you're connected) will help protect her from crime; while "allowing" anyone else to exercise Constitutional rights would be dangerous.
Were you a gentleman and offer to have your baby daughter help her put them together?
