Attention Messrs. Blunt, Boehner, and Shadegg

You already know RedState is supporting Congressman Shadegg. But, you three could go a long way toward proving your self worth if one of you would release the redacted portions of the Barrett report.

We have a right to know about IRS abuse. We should know about it. You should release the redactions into the Congressional Record.

The gift that just keeps on giving.  Maybe we can get this before Hillary is re-elected?

It's the "culture of corruption," I tell ya.

...that members of Congress have the right to see the full unredacted version--a provision of the Independent Counsel law. And members of Congress also have the right to read anything into the Congressional Record, I think, as long as it's not classified for security, and I don't see how the redacted parts of the Barrett report would be classified.

and they are shielded from any sort of prosecution for said reading.

With that said, 5 years after GWB leaves office if something like this were to occur does anyone seriously doubt that our good friends like Maxine Waters or Sheila Jackson Lee or Baghdad Jim McDermott wouldn't make that their first order of business?  One of our more partisan memebers needs to do likewise.

I don't disagree that the full report should be released, but none of the three have access to the report, hence none of them can put it in the public record.

Let's not attribute any of them with god-like powers.

the judges have established an exception, or rather 535 exceptions, to the rule that nobody can see what has been redacted. Any member of Congress can read it merely by asking.

Sorry, should have been more clear.  Just because the judges have allowed Members to read it, doesn't mean that Members can get their hands on an actual copy of the unredacted material and bring it back to their office for their own (and staff) perusal.

S.O.P. for something like this is to keep it in a secure room at the Capitol, Members sign in when they go to read it, no photocopiers or camera phones allowed.  No opportunity for a Sandy Berger sock stuffing, either.  Members could probably take notes, I presume.  But unless an industrious Member wants to go jot down every unredacted word and then have it transcribed, it's not gonna happen.

Otherwise, it's an amazingly stupid loophole by these judges (who know better) and that just doesn't make sense.
