The Pennsylvania gubernatorial race is tied

The latest telephone poll from Strategic Vision is out -- 1200 likely voters in Pennsylvania, aged 18+, and conducted March 10-12 – and this race is tied: Governor Ed Rendell – 44%, Republican Lynn Swann – 44%, with an error margin of plus or minus three.

Rendell's performance approval rating is still below 50%, at 46%, with 36% disapproving. Over half of those surveyed, 51%, had a favorable opinion of Swann, with 26% thinking poorly of the man.

You can do your part to help Lynn Swann break this tie by visiting here, his secure server. The Rendell era is almost over.

Strategic Vision isn't excactly what I'd call definitive.  Any more recent reliable polls?

Googling brings up a bit of a mish-mash.  Fox News had Rendell ahead by double digits as of Feb 13.

        Rendell    Swann

19-Jan    Rass    43    45

9-Feb    Harris    45    42

13-Feb    Quinn    48    36

21-Feb    Rass    46    43

14-Mar    SV    44    44

If you'll notice, the Quinnipiac is the one to which The Lodger referred in his reply, and that one is the outlier.  It is also nearly identical to the Quinnipiac rolled out in November, before Swann's announcement, tour, and the publicity which came with the Steelers' victory in Super Bowl XL.

In the country for us.  It is not only important por Pennsylvania to elect a good Republican candidate, but it will be very important for the GOP in '08.  Hillary will be able to get out the African-American vote in droves and if Swanny is in --and popular-- it will give us a good chance to win the state in '08.  Without Pennsylvania it will be very hard for the Dems to win in '08.
