Ohio Democrats Vie for Senate

As Democrats in Ohio move toward choosing their candidate for the U.S. Senate this year, Merrill Keiser, Jr. hopes they will select him.

Keiser recently told Toledo's News 11 that homosexuality should be a felony, punishable by death.

Keiser will face Sherrod Brown in the May primary.

Listening to the news from Toledo, Keiser is not taken seriously as a candidate for anything, and no one believes he will be anything more than an also-ran, not even himself.

Perhaps homopath is a more accurate word (if it's a word at all).  It's one thing to debate that homosexuals should or shouldn't be licensed to marry.

I can't remember the last time a political figure in this country suggested the death penalty for homosexuals.

It never ceases to amaze me how the Democrats can claim the moral high ground, and yet fall prey to this sort of write-in candidate.

front page NYT, leads CBS.

Look, there are loonies on the fringe of both parties. If you read the Ohio papers or watch Ohio news broadcasts, you understand that the State party and national party are solidly behind Sherrod Brown. I have no doubt he'll get their nod.

On the other hand, if Keiser, Jr. should somehow win in an upset, it could hurt Republicans.  I have absolutely no doubts that he would siphon off the extremist wingnuts of the Republican party as he espouses a view on homosexuals that they themselves support.

Hate is hate and it doesn't belong in either party.

It'll be DWine and Brown in 2006.

Did you learn this style of writing from Columbia?

Please provide an explanation for this statement. Specifically backed by some Ohio Republicans (heck, Republicans anywhere, and Fred Phelps is not a Republican) who think that homosexuality should be a felony punishable by death.

Upon review of your posting history, I have determined that it's not worth my time to check back and see if you have complied.

Blam.

more proof that we are the true party of tolerance and freedom.

Surely he's a Daily Show-type mole to get some laughs. Some of the moonbats are floating theories that he's a Republican plant.

He's not a plant, he's a fruitcake.

Look how much attention that former GOP, current nutcase/vampire candidate in Minnesota is getting.

How come Delay and Cunningham get 50 times more headlines than William Jefferson's freezergate scandal (if you're asking "who?" that's exactly my point) and Harry Reid's Abramoff connections.

Amdrew Sullivan might even rouse himself to give it a brief mention on his blog.

than David Duke is a Republican, and I don't ascribe that twit to your party - I would ask you do the same with some crackpot with no party support who happens to put "Democrat" by his name

Surely you recognize that the point of the OP was a satire on "journalism"?

I didn't, as early morning law classes tend to dull the senses a bit too much
