Just Like The Sun Coming Up

Yesterday in this story on a vapid series of articles by the Hartford Courant on servicemembers developing PTSD, I was reminded of a story written nearly 18 months ago on the indefatigable efforts of the anti-American left to turn every event in Iraq into a Vietnam metaphor.
Today, in honor of Mr. Murtha I offer another bit from the story:
Atrocities. Whether the actions of a few rogue soldiers kidnapping and raping a young woman, latterly memorialized in a rather feckless film with a rather feckless cast, or an out of control unit slaughtering civilians at My Lai, American atrocities against Vietnamese civilians, like the wretched homeless vet, have become part of our consciousness, or unconsciousness, of the Vietnam War. Despite the military's leading role in prosecuting cases of crimes(here | here | here, for instance) against Iraqis, unsubstantiated stories, frauds, and pure fabrications abound.
These people are just as predictable as the sun coming up.

I've read accounts that describe the frustration of these aging hippies in their failure to reenact the 60's.

After all, the kids won't let the Left re-live its glory days vicariously. Sure, you get a couple of whack jobs who protest on campus here and there but it sure ain't San Francisco 1969.
