Communists To Denounce Communism . . .

Though as noted here, "it's the same regurgitated left nonsense about the CCCP never trying out real socialism." At some point, perhaps it will be high time to remark on the fact that if one tries to implement "real socialism," the Soviet state is the kind of state that will emerge. And yes, we will have a state. It won't wither away. We won't have a society where we take from each according to his ability and give to each according to his need. We will instead have a poor, broken down, totalitarian country. That's as good as it's going to get.

The truly amazing thing is that we are still arguing over this issue. One would have thought it settled by now.

It's like Naziism or Fascism, only with classes instead of races or nations.

From each everything, to each nothing.

The workers pretend to work and the management pretends to pay them.

I could not agree with you more. I have a friend who is a Communist and he always claims that no country has ever tied true socialism/communism. He refuses to buy the argument that socialism/communism will always lead to a totalitarian state much like the Soviet Union.

I do not see how communism/socialism can lead to anything but a totalitarian state. One, it goes against human nature because we are naturally competitive. Two, it requires 100% agreement in order to fully function, which is impossible. When has 100% of people ever agreed on anything (with the noted exception of the 100% of Iraqi's who always re-elected Saddam president)?

If someone stops working, then someone is not getting their "fair" share, which leads to problems that the state has to handle. In the past, this has been handled through killing those who refuse to work to their "ability" or those who disagree with the government's central planning. I would love someone to explain to me how communist state can exist without a totalitarian central government. It is impossible any other way, so forever we will get to hear the commies say it has never been "truly" tried.

What really bothers me though is the fact that my friend is gay and advocates the communist position. In a communist country, he would be killed for being gay because he would be refusing to engage in acts that would create a new generation of workers. However, he would rather maintain his utopian version of communism than admit the fact that capitalism is responsible for the growing tolerance of homosexuality.

Corporations were out front in offering domestic partner benefits because they have to compete for workers. In addition, companies have to contend with a bottom line that encourages them to market products to or at least not discrimate against homosexuals. If the United States was communist, my friend would not be out and proud, he would be out and in front of a firing line.

Sorry for the rant, but I was just in this argument with him today. I could go into his rant against Israel as well, but it would just make me angry all over again. I think if I do not stop talking to Communists soon, medicine will not even be able to control my blood pressure.

It's even been successful...

...on an incredibly small level.  Any group larger than your typical hippie commune can't make it work...

it does not even work out well amongst the hippies. They would probably try to kill each other if their commune was not in a country that forbid it or if they were not all too spaced out from the tofu dogs.

to go visit Cuba where they put gays in insane asylums.

I just said that that's the largest group you could get it to work with.
