A Command-And-Control Economy

The General Assembly,
Noting with interest the American tendency to drive SUV's,
Aware that Americans like to eat until they feel full in their bellies,
Cognizant of the fact that Americans like to feel warm in their own houses,
Hereby declares as follows:
- Americans will be able to drive SUV's without having to seek the permission of foreign countries, international non-governmental organizations or the United Nations.
- Americans will be able to eat to their bellies' content without requiring the indulgence of foreign countries, international non-governmental organizations or the United Nations.
- Americans will be allowed to set their home thermostats so that they feel sufficiently toasty without having to go about creating an international coalition that consists of foreign countries, international non-governmental organizations or specific United Nations resolutions that back the ability of individual Americans to feel nice, snug and warm in their own homes.
We had better go about getting this resolution adopted quickly. The next Administration may not support such far-reaching proposals, after all.
