Today is the day. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's Monday, the first day back after (what I hope was) an awesome three-day weekend, a return to the grindstone and the day power finally returned for many Grand Rapids residents after a nasty weekend storm. But that's not what I'm talking about. Today is the filing deadline.

Well that didn't take long. Two days after we broke the news statewide Lansing insider publication MIRS seems to have finally received a call back from the committee that's openly and actively lying to Michigan voters to advance a parking-lot rewrite of the Michigan Constitution.

Posted at 3:08pm on Jun. 10, 2008 Jim Johnson, Barack Obama, and George Soros
By Soren Dayton
Lots of attention has focused on Jim Johnson, who Barack Obama picked to guide the VP selection process. We have already talked about a number of the problems. It comes down to this: just as Tony Rezko helped Obama with a sweetheart deal to buy his house, Countywide Financial, which Obama rails against, helped Johnson buy his.
But there is more on Johnson. In 2001, he joined Persueus LLC as a Vice Chairman. Perseus has a number of funds. Among them:
PERSEUS-SOROS BIOPHARMACEUTICAL FUND, L.P., which Perseus co-manages, was formed in 2000 with capital commitments totaling $449 million to make investments in life sciences companies
So Perseus is a business partner with George Soros. And Johnson is the Vice Chairman ...
Incidentally, as Say Anything Blog notes, Perseus also seems to own the publisher of the Scott McClellan book:
Public Affairs Books (editor at large Peter Osnos: About The Century Foundation.)Public Affairs Books is owned by Perseus Book Group.
Perseus Book Group is in turn owned by Perseus Funds Group, (holding company Perseus LLC). Perseus has enjoyed growth of assets over the last 13 years of 10,000% (100 x 1995 value).
Are we looking at the finance empire of the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy?

Posted at 1:11pm on Apr. 18, 2008 You Are Too Old To Vote Democrat
John McCain Is So Old, He Remembers When The Democrats Were Not Whiny, Self-Indulgent Brats
By Dan McLaughlin
Left-wing, Soros-funded* interest group "America Coming Together" has produced the following advertisement to helpfully remind you that if you are anywhere near as old as McCain, nyaaah, nyaaah, nyaah you're not cool enough to hang with the Democrats:
Via Exurban League, who breaks down voter turnout by age and remarks:
[In the ad,] twentysomethings ridicule McCain's age for 90 seconds. Because American voters love snarky college students insulting their war-hero elders.
Only a few seconds in, I was ready to take my walking-stick and tan the hides of those insolent whippersnappers, by cracky. And I'm only 41. If they're making punks like me feel old, I can only imagine what retirees throughout the Sun Belt will think.
H/T. Jim Geraghty thinks that "I were on Team McCain, I would make sure that ad runs in central Florida and closed-circuit television of every retirement community in the country," and suggests that "McCain is so old" could be the new Chuck Norris Facts. Certainly, McCain's tour harking back to the Great Depression is intended to solidify his bond with older voters, who are much more reliable than people like Obama Girl who make web videos and then don't bother to show up and vote.
If the Left thinks you are too old, well, it's never too late to come on over, join the adults, and vote Republican.
* - Why yes, George Soros is 78. I guess he's not too old for these punks to take his money. That's what grownups are there for - to pay the bills, right?

Posted at 1:51am on Jan. 13, 2008 You don't understand! We're lying to you for your own good!
And because we think that you're incredibly stupid
By Jeff Emanuel
Remember that Lancet study on Iraq deaths that was so poorly researched, and so widely discredited, that even anti-Iraq-and-America alarmist site Iraq Body Count refused to accept its ridiculously inflated conclusion of 650,000 Iraqis killed since the 2003 invasion?
Well, the Sunday Times Online is reporting that the study was funded by -- you guessed it -- George Soros.
Here's guessing that liberals the world over will rush to his defense, since, as you know, lies, made-up facts, trumped-up atrocities, and, yes, lies are perfectly acceptable on the part of the Left when it's for a "greater good" -- and make no mistake: to these folks, anything that paints the U.S. as a force for terror and murder in the world, and pushes more Americans to demand that we withdraw from Iraq and surrender it and the rest of the region to Islamofascist terrorists, is indeed "for the greater good."
