Michelle Obama

Posted at 10:53am on Jun. 13, 2008 Jay Carney, You Ignorant Slut*

By Erick

Don't you read your own magazine?

Jay is out blaming right wing bloggers and Rush Limbaugh for starting the Michelle Obama "Whitey Tape" rumor.

Of course, as Jay's own co-worker Karen Tumulty noted in the same magazine that Jay writes for

According to campaign officials, what finally launched Obama into a full rumor counteroffensive was a story that apparently first made a big splash on the Internet in late May in a post by pro-Hillary Clinton blogger Larry Johnson.

Come on Jay, you're better than that. I know you like to blame the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy for everything from global warming to those mysterious panties in your hotel room that one time back during Bush-Cheney 2000 (it is, I believe, a requirement to blame the VRWC for everything if you want to work at Time), but try not to follow the herd here, Jay.

It was Hillary Clinton supporters who started the rumor. Not us.

*I like Jay Carney. I think he's a good reporter. The title is humorous and based on a Saturday Night Live skit. But Jay is definitely ignorant in this matter.

Posted at 4:47pm on Jun. 12, 2008 Obama's Truth Site Already Has a Problem With the Truth

By Erick

Barack and boys from Chicago have set up a new website to combat all the "smears" against the candidate.

One of the smears is the "Whitey" tape wherein Michelle Obama tells an audience of leather clad San Francisco gay men and radical muslims "F--- you and your Jesus, Whitey. My husband is the new messiah and the crackers can deal with it." She thereafter pees on a statue of the Virgin Mary and replaces the little crucifix Jesus with an Obama logo.*

To respond to this smear, the Obama campaign has created a smear of its own. They are falsely accusing Roger Stone of claiming to possess the Whitey tape.

Stone never said that.

If the Obama campaign is going to combat smears by smears of its own, we might need to do an anti-anit-smear site. Of course, we're already tied up just dealing with Obama's day to day fabrications, lies, and minimal truthiness.

Perhaps he really does have a plan of burning out right-of-center bloggers by giving them too much to write about.

*Hey, I haven't seen the tape. I'm just making an educated guess based on the various emails, conversations, blog posts, and news items that have been out there.

Posted at 5:29pm on May 19, 2008 Michelle Obama: Women Are Taught To Suffer

By bluegrassredstate

Originally posted at Blue Grass, Red State.

In a brief telephone interview with Herald-Leader reporter Ryan Alessi today, the bitter half of Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, demonstrated an unusual perspective on the lives of American women. (emphasis mine)

We're taught as women to keep it all in and suffer and just hold it down. So having the opportunity to sort of get some of that stuff out and it gives me information I will definitely be passing on to Barack, about what these families are missing."

What are families missing, Mrs. Obama? Many people are happy with their lives, you know? Not everyone is mad about everything like you. Through all of the sacrifices many families make for their families, their children, and their country, not everyone wants the government, led by your inept and ridiculous husband, to swoop in and make everything better.

Maybe I'm just bitter

By Soren Dayton

Michelle Obama, on the Today show:

But the truth is that, you know, I just know how special he is. ... The fundamental changes that he has made in just 15 months in the way people see themselves, the way people see their futures, the way young people are looking at their possibilities, the way we're talking about politics, even though we slip sometimes and we still get pulled down into the old ways of playing the political game -- changes have happened.

Is she really saying that Barack Obama is changing how people "see themselves"? Could these people get any more arrogant? No wonder that they are having trouble connecting.

This a great catch from Jen Rubin.

Nice to see you out and about.

So, what have you got for us, today? Oh, something from January that we missed the first time? Well, let's have a look at it:

Posted at 6:47pm on Feb. 21, 2008 Michelle Obama fondly looks back to another President Bush

By Kevin Holtsberry

Can I find within me the audacity to change this blog entry's location to the front page, where it can bestow upon us its message of hope? YES, I CAN. - Moe Lane

The Hotline's On Call has Michelle Obama trying desperately to dig her way out of her embarrassing comments about being proud of her country for the first time:

Michelle Obama is proud. Yes, she is.

At an event today at Cleveland State University, the wife of Barack Obama talked about the breadth of support her husband's campaign has seen across the country, saying it was a testament to the power of hope.

"When was the last time we've had a presidential candidate of any gender or race or political party who pull together wins in places like Idaho and Utah and Louisiana and Georgia and Maine and Alaska and Missouri, and Illinois?" she said. "What we've been seeing over the course of this year is that folks are hungry for change. ... We've learned that in this nation with a little bit of hope and inspiration people do want to take hold of their destinies and move it in a different place. So yes, I am proud."

Obama took some heat over the last few days for saying during a recent campaign event that she is proud of her country for the first time in her adult life.

OK. Let's get in the way-back machine and travel back in time to the last time a politician captured the remarkable combination of states like "Idaho and Utah and Louisiana and Georgia and Maine and Alaska and Missouri, and Illinois."

Set the clock for . . . 1988! That's right, folks. The last candidate to approach the incredible unity and power of Barack Obama was George HW Bush.

Posted at 2:26pm on Feb. 20, 2008 Bush in Africa and Michelle Obama

By Jeff Emanuel

Moe, I mentioned the Bush work in Africa in my post calling out Mrs. Obama, J.D. for her America-is-pathetic comments. To wit:

This utter lack of pride in their country or its people is ESPECIALLY damning in light of the amazing and praiseworthy work that President Bush has done for Africa during his terms as President -- especially given the fact that Obama still has family there (which seems a bit strange, given that he is so wealthy and, apparently, holy and powerful -- why is his grandmother still living in a hut in a desolate village on the Dark Continent when her son is this successful in America?).

It's very interesting to me - and all the more deplorable for it, as well.

Posted at 1:37am on Feb. 19, 2008 Michelle Obama thinks you're worthless and stupid, thinks voting for her husband will be the only worthwhile thing you ever do.

But hey -- like, vote for Change and the Future and Stuff!

By Jeff Emanuel

"For the First Time in My Adult Lifetime, I Am Really Proud of My Country," said Michelle Obama, rich lawyer and wife of Barack Hussein (same last name), yesterday.

Excuse me? A female, African-American, Princeton-and-Harvard-educated attorney, who has achieved a great deal in her life, who lived through the Civil Rights revolution (and was the daughter of a Chicago city worker who really experienced those events), and who is married to an African-American man who is a U.S. Senator, has never been proud of her country before?

Putting that aside for a moment, what is it that we've suddenly done to -- finally -- make her proud now? Allow her husband to enter a primary that he hasn't even won yet?

Let me get this straight: a couple of ultra-successful, Ivy League-educated, wealthy, elitist liberals who have never been proud of their country want all of us little people to vote for them to be our PRESIDENT and FIRST LADY?

They want to represent a people, and govern a country, that has never, once, ever in their adult lives made them proud?

Wow.

Anyway, just shut up and vote for Barack so that his wife can finally appreciate something you stupid people in this country she is so forcibly made to endure living in have done.

Got it?
