[UPDATE: CNN results here. 26% in, 55/41 Clinton, and Obama's barely winning Jefferson County. - Moe Lane]
[Further UPDATE: At 83%, it's 65/31 Clinton... and if I'm reading the results correctly, Obama will be getting no pledged delegates from the 5th Congressional District of Kentucky. That's... interesting, yes? - Moe Lane]

And a rising tide lifts all boats
By Neil Stevens
Relatively, the United States has more obese people than any other country in the world, and per capita Mexico is second on the world obesity list. Diabetes is now the leading killer.
These weren't always true of Mexico, but now they are. Why? NAFTA created wealth, a rising tide lifted all boats, and now Mexicans are ever more likely to be able to buy the food they need, plus the food they want, so much so that they can eat too much.
The human body is made to withstand food shortages. Perpetually having enough food will always create obesity. Weight is a sign of prosperity, and I for one am glad that NAFTA could help Mexico as much as it helped the USA.

TOP TEN (OR FIVE) LISTS OPEN THREAD

Number 10: Obama attends Wright's church for twenty years!
Number 9: Wright comes to Hawaii for a visit. Obama's Grandma, upon meeting the Wright Reverend, surrenders her purse.
Number 8: Wright introduces Farrakhan to Obama. That's it. That's the joke.
Number 7: Obama's Grandma comes to Chicago and visits the church to apologize for Pearl Harbor, but Obama doesn't show. He's not there on those days.
Number 6: On Thanksgiving Obama asks the Wright Reverend to pass some turkey. The Reverend inquires white or dark meat? Obama says a little of each.

Posted at 7:13pm on Mar. 7, 2008 Congestion Charge-Free Open Thread
By Neil Stevens
There's a neat little story in the Japan Times today about how various diplomats have stopped paying Red Ken's 'congestion' car taxes in London:
The biggest debtor is the United States, which owes over £2 million. Japan is currently in second place. More than £10 million is owed by 20 embassies, according to Transport for London.
The U.S. and German embassies stopped paying the charge in July 2005 and there are thought to be around 50 missions not paying now.
While opposing their actions, Mayor of London Ken Livingstone knows there is nothing he can do by law to prevent the diplomats' refusal to cough up.
What's especially funny about this is that Livingstone is beclowning himself so thoroughly by comparing this with the aggression of old militarist Japan:
He told a radio station: "I think there are several problems with Japan that we could go on about here. Admitting their guilt for all the war crimes would be one thing. So if they've not got round to doing that, I doubt they're too worried about the congestion charge."
How did this fool get elected? Open thread.

Barack Obama Won't Be Home Before The Leaves Fall
By Dan McLaughlin
It is of little use to Americans for their candidates to avoid the many complex challenges of these struggles [in Iraq and Afghanistan] by re-litigating decisions of the past....I will leave it to my opponent to claim that they can keep companies and jobs from going overseas by making it harder for them to do business here at home.
